Bayern Munich attacker interested in joining Arsenal – reports

By on June 1, 2016

According to a report in the Express, Mario Gotze would be interested in joining Arsenal this summer as his future at Bayern Munich continues to be shrouded in mystery.

Gotze was fully expected to leave Bayern this summer after falling out-of-favour at the Allianz Arena having made just 11 starts in the Bundesliga last season while he also played just 6 minutes of Champions League football during the knockout stages.

The playmaker has just one year remaining on his contract and was therefore expected to be available at a reasonable price but Gotze surprisingly announced last month that he intended to remain at Bayern and fight for his place under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

However, Bayern chiefs have discretely suggested in the media that the 23-year-old should find a new club this summer as his first team chances are unlikely to be any greater under Ancelotti next season.

It seems the two parties are playing a game and the likelihood is that Gotze will be on the move over the coming months as there is no point him staying at a club where he’s not wanted.

The German international has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks while Liverpool have also been credited with a strong interest with Jurgen Klopp believed to be keen to link-up with the player he managed at Dortmund.

The Express cite a report coming from SportBild that claims Gotze has ruled out the possibility of moving to Anfield as he believes it would be a step-back in his career to join a club that can’t offer him any sort of European football.

However, the newspaper suggests that Gotze would still be interested in joining Arsenal as we can offer him Champions League football, while the report also names the obvious teams such as Real Madrid and Barcelona as clubs the player would be keen to play for.

I’d absolutely love to see Gotze join Arsenal this summer. He’s a supreme talent that just hasn’t been given a chance to shine at Bayern but I could see him flourishing if given a more prominent role at the Emirates.

The likes of Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain are being tipped to leave this summer and Danny Welbeck is out for most of next season so we could certainly do with at least one attacker coming in this summer.

Arsenal ready to pay £20m for Colombian defender

Gotze is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions and has even played as a ‘false 9’ at times, so he’d give Wenger plenty of options in the final third.

Let’s hope the boss makes a play for Gotze’s signature as he’s clearly available and we could snap him up for under £20m due to his contract situation, which would be an absolute steal.

20M for Gotze? If that was true AW would have signed him already.. He is better than all our front row except for Sanchez.

The perfect obtion for Rosicky and Ramsey replacement is Mario Gotze. I just dont know why Arsene Wenger is so slogish in terms of decision making. He has no excuss this time around
