Quartet recalled in 4-2-3-1 line-up: My Arsenal XI to face West Brom

I think it’s time we mix things up when Arsenal take on West Brom at the Emirates on Thursday night….this is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with.

Goalkeeper: Cech

Cech was at fault for the Crystal Palace equaliser on Sunday as he should certainly have done more to keep out Bolasie’s effort but he’s still our No.1 and should start ahead of Ospina.

Defence: Bellerin, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs

I think there should be a couple of changes in defence with Mertesacker coming in to replace Gabriel. Yes, the Brazilian has more pace but it’s difficult to argue that Per isn’t far superior in terms of ‘defending’ and we need some leadership back in the side.

Bellerin will continue at right-back but I’d like to see Gibbsy given a run-out as he’s been unfortunate not to play more this season.

Midfield: Coquelin, Elneny

Elneny and Coquelin have struck up a solid partnership in midfield and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t continue against West Brom on Thursday night.

Wilshere continued his comeback with another run-out for the under-21’s on Monday and even got on the score-sheet but he’s not ready to start for the first team just yet. However, perhaps Arsene might put him on the bench?

Cazorla is back in full training but also isn’t ready to feature so remains out along with Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Attack: Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez

I’m not a huge fan of Ramsey on the right but we need to try something new as the team has gone stale and young Iwobi could probably do with a rest as he’s played a lot of football lately.

Walcott made no impact off the bench once again on Sunday so he’ll remain on among the subs along with Campbell while Ozil and Sanchez will keep their places in attack.

Striker: Giroud

Welbeck has played a lot of minutes since returning from 8 months on the sidelines so perhaps it would be wise to give him a breather and bring in Giroud. The Frenchman should be hungry to impress after losing his place and he also needs to make an impression on the France boss ahead of the Euro’s.

This would be my line-up:

Something was certainly missing from the team on Sunday. Perhaps it’s a lack of motivation from the management. Maybe it was complacency in thinking they’d walk over Palace. Or a bit of both. But we need to try something different so I hope Wenger makes a few changes on Thursday.

If we fail to win again, then the scrap for the top four is well and truly on….

Giroud should have returned to the squad since the West Ham game.He might not be as pacy as Welbeck but his presence can be very disturbing to defenders.I think Giroud should play in the first team till the end of the season.
