Wenger’s Team News: Midfielder out but youngster could face Hull

By on March 7, 2016

Arsene Wenger has held his pre-match press conference this morning ahead of Tuesday night’s FA Cup replay with Hull City and he’s given the latest team news.

The boss confirmed that Francis Coquelin will be the only player unavailable from the squad that drew 2-2 with Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

The French midfielder has only recently returned from a knee injury but he will now miss out as he must serve a one-game suspension after being sent off for a needless second bookable offence shortly after half-time.

We didn’t suffer any fresh injuries against Spurs but Arsene did reveal that he’ll rotate his team in order to freshen things up with Alex Iwobi set to come back in to the squad.

The 19-year-old started in the original tie against Hull at the Emirates last month and could be given another chance to impress against the Tigers tomorrow night.

Wenger didn’t offer any update on the fitness of Nacho Monreal or Laurent Koscielny after both missed Saturday’s Spurs game with calf injuries – although Nacho was named as an unused substitute – so we’ll have to wait and see whether they are passed fit to make their comebacks.

The boss didn’t give any indication as to who could start at the KC Stadium but he did say he’ll make changes so I expect the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Mathieu Flamini and Calum Chambers to come in.

Here is what he told reporters:
