Wenger confirms Wilshere & Cazorla will be back within ‘weeks’
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla are back running again and should be available to make their comebacks within ‘weeks’.
Wilshere hasn’t featured this season after suffering a fractured fibula in training on the eve of our Community Shield clash with Chelsea in early August 2015.
The 24-year-old was only initially only expected to be out for around three months but he’s suffered a number of setbacks in his recovery along the way with a proposed comeback just before Christmas shelved after he aggravated the injury in training.
However, it looks like Jack is now on the comeback trail once again as Wenger says he’s now running again and should be available within ‘weeks’.
Cazorla is also closing-in on making a return to action with the Spaniard also undertaking an individual training programme after recovering from a serious knee injury that he sustained back in late November.
Speaking to Arsenal.com ahead of Sunday’s huge clash against Leicester City, Arsene said:
on Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla…
They are back running, they are on a fitness programme now so it means it is not a question of months anymore, it is a question of weeks for them to be back.
I suspect neither player will be back in the first team until next month but it’s going to be a HUGE boost to have them back, even if it’s just for the final couple of months of the season.
We’ve sorely missed both players as without Wilshere and Cazorla, we lack a ball-playing midfielder who can initiate attacks from deep midfield and quicken the transition from defence to attack.
Let’s hope both players continue without issue when they resume full training and get themselves 100% fit soon.
