Flamini & Giroud Out: The Arsenal XI That Should Face Bournemouth

Arsenal desperately need a win when we take on AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court on Sunday afternoon….this is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with.

Goalkeeper: Cech

Petr Cech should keep his place in goal, obviously.

Defence: Bellerin, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal

Per Mertesacker is pushing for a recall after being left on the bench against Southampton on Tuesday but I see no reason why we should drop Gabriel. He didn’t put a foot wrong and he doesn’t get exposed like Mertesacker does due to a lack of pace, so I’d stick with the Brazilian alongside Koscielny.

Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal have established themselves as our first choice full-backs so they should once again start this weekend.

Midfield: Coquelin, Ramsey

I have no idea why Wenger left Coquelin on the bench and started Flamini in midweek but I do know it shouldn’t happen again…ever. The Flamini/Ramsey partnership doesn’t work and now that we have Coquelin and Elneny available, Flamini shouldn’t even be near the bench let alone the starting eleven.

Attack: Campbell, Ozil, Sanchez

Campbell was poor on Tuesday night but he’s done enough over the past couple of months to warrant another start. Obviously Ozil and Sanchez will keep their places in attack as the duo were unlucky not to create at least one goal against the Saints. If they play like they did on Tuesday again this weekend, hopefully we’re take our chances this time.

Striker: Walcott

Giroud missed a hat-full of chances last time out and he often comes back stronger after having a breather, so I’d give him a rest on Sunday and play Walcott through the middle. Theo is in a poor run of form himself and badly needs a confidence booster so stick him up front where he was flying before his injury in December. Hopefully that will do the trick.

This would be my line-up:

What do you think? What team would you go with?

Don’t agree with Walcott suggestion. Very ineffective and useless. Runs around like a headless chicken and is scared shot to take on defenders. If he truly had pace then he should join Grain Bolt in the athletics circle and not come near a soccer pitch. Even Randy needs to be benched. He keeps the ball too long trying his flicks and tricks that do not come off. I like elneny – the little that I saw of him. Keeps it simple and moves on the ball much quicker. Mertessecker needs to be released at the end of the season. Our formation needs to change to play to our strength. Giroux can win the first ball but his head ons and flick ons are not picked up by a second striker. Push Sanchez through the middle and train our fullbacks and/or wingbacks to cross the ball properly and you will see how effective Giroux can be. We can’t cross even dead ball for God’s sake and we expect to score. The wonder goals that we always strive to score come probably once every five or six matches. The rest are usually simple or scrappy goals. Want proof? Check where Leicester are at the moment and see the kind of poachers goals that they score. Call them ‘picking our pocket’ or whatever but they all count. COYG we have a title (s) to win!
