This incredible record came to an end after Arsenal lost to Chelsea

By on January 25, 2016

Mathieu Flamini finally lost a Premier League game while playing at the Emirates Stadium during Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

The French midfielder went into yesterday’s clash having never tasted defeat in any of his last 55 league games on home soil.

However, that all came to an end as Diego Costa scored the only goal as Chelsea left the Emirates with all three points after Per Mertesacker had seen red in the 18th minute.

I’m not Flamini’s biggest fan but that was an impressive run as 55 games without defeat is good going and the manner of the loss will also leave a bitter taste in the mouth.

Obviously it’s a shame that Flamini’s incredible record has come to an end, but if it’s any consolation, he really only has himself to blame as the 31-year-old missed two excellent chances to get an equaliser yesterday.

With Francis Coquelin back in full training following a knee injury and Mohamed Elneny arriving from FC Basel, I don’t think it will be long before Flamini finds himself back out in the cold.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s filled in admirably over the past couple of months but he’s a very limited player and simply not good enough if we wan’t to win the Premier League, so I for one can not wait for Coquelin’s name to be back on the team sheet.

Flamini only has himself to blame?
    Are you serious????

Flamini is a holding CM, not a CF or Attacking midfielder, he is a DEFENSIVE midfielder.

Blame the DEFENSIVE guy for not scoring is a morons action.
Guess you are just a moron.

Flamini may not be the best in the world but he deserves credit, he refused to look at another club when he was out of contract and only club he had on his mind was Arsenal. The guy produced a wonderful display against the Spuds. He isn’t a young man anymore and you can not expect him to do all the damn defensive work because Ramsey is too busy bombing forward and then moan when Flamini fails to score.

    STFU!
Blame Giroud for not doing more to be kept on the pitch… he wasn’t closing things down again.
Theo on the left is good for counter football, not possession, Wenger messed the tactics up. That isn’t Flaminis fault.

Flamini only has himself to blame?
Sounds like you really didn’t watch the game.
