Preview: Watford v Arsenal Team News, Line-up & Predicted Score
Real football is back this weekend as Arsenal make the short trip to Vicarage Road to take on Watford on Saturday evening.
The international break came at a bad time for us as we’d just thrashed Manchester United 3-0 before the players went off to meet-up with their nations.
Ideally we’d have been able to build on that result immediately but hopefully the way we played at the Emirates two weeks ago is still fresh in the players’ memory’s as we were outstanding, especially during the first half.
That win lifted us up to second in the Premier League table and we’re now just two points off leaders Man City so we need a win tomorrow to keep the pressure on.
Team News
It looks like Koscielny has been passed fit to play as he took part in full training this afternoon after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Sanchez was also assessed by the medical team after he played in both of Chile’s World Cup qualifiers despite carrying a hip injury but we’ll have to wait and see if Arsene decides to risk him from the start.
Arteta and Flamini are both available again after recovering from hamstring injuries but they’ll be on the bench as Coquelin will no doubt start in midfield.
We’ll continue to be without Wilshere, Rosicky and Welbeck through injury.
Preferred line-up
I’d personally not take the risk with either Koscielny or Sanchez tomorrow. Mertesacker and Gabriel were excellent against United and they can take care of Watford so there’s no point rushing Kos back.
The two games with Chile will have taken a lot out of Sanchez and he only got back late on Thursday so let’s give him a breather and not risk aggravating his hip. The last thing we want is him ruled out for a prolonged period because we pushed him too hard.
So this would be my line-up:
In reality, I wouldn’t be surprised if both Kos and Alexis start tomorrow. If they do, let’s hope it doesn’t backfire.
Predicted Score
Watford have impressed so far this season and I think they’ll give us a tough game tomorrow. However, if we can reproduce the kind of attacking prowess we should against United we can bring home the three points.
Watford 1-2 Arsenal
