Arsenal shareholder demands Wenger is sacked and replaced by Klopp

Arsenal shareholder and celebrity super-fan Piers Morgan has demanded Arsene Wenger is sacked and replaced by Jurgen Klopp.

The heat is on Wenger after a shocking 3-2 defeat to Olympiakos on Tuesday night that’s left us needing a minor miracle to qualify from the group stages of the Champions League.

The bosses decision to rest Petr Cech and start David Ospina in goal has infuriated supporters after the Colombian international’s schoolboy error contributed to our defeat last night.

It seems the defeat to Olympiakos was the final straw for one particular fan as Piers Morgan has slammed the performance as ‘diabolical’ and claims it was our worst display in Europe during Wenger’s entire reign.

He’s quoted by the Mirror as saying to talkSPORT:

“That is the worst performance I have seen by Arsenal in Europe in Wenger’s entire tenure.

“It is a case of the chickens coming home to roost. I have persistently said that I see no evidence of this progress, of this great leap forward, that we are supposedly making all the time. I point to last night as to what I am talking about.

“I was a diabolical performance against a team that have played 12 teams in England and have never won. They have been thrashed in almost every game they have played in England. They have scored three goals in 12 games in England and conceded 37. Last night, they basically hammered us.

“Wenger always has a great excuse, whether it is the stadium, his spending, the board, the weather. Whatever it is, there is always some excuse that doesn’t involve Arsene Wenger. Well last night the excuses ended. It is him.

“There is a wider malaise at the heart of Arsenal. I have had a lot of flak for persistently saying for six, seven years now that I believe Wenger has run his course at Arsenal.

“It is not personal. I have no problem with Arsene Wenger. He is a very erudite, intelligent guy who did an amazing job for the first eight years of his tenure. But how many more years can we put up with shocking mediocrity?

“In the last couple of years alone, we have conceded three goals at home to Olympiacos, Monaco and Anderlecht. Any other big European club manager would be long gone just for that.

“How many more calamities can Wenger perpetrate on this club before the penny drops!”

It’s difficult to argue with Morgan. The performance was abysmal and there is clearly something inherently wrong with this team after conceding three goals at home to Olympiakos, Monaco and Anderlecht. Nobody can argue with that.

The problem is, fans are still split over whether Wenger is still the right man to take us forward or if it’s time for a change in direction.

Morgan has made it clear for some time what he thinks. He want’s Wenger gone and he’s once again called on the club to bring in Jurgen Klopp.

The TV presenter and journalist told talkSPORT:

“Firstly, he [Klopp] is available. Secondly, we understand he is itching to get back in the game.

“Thirdly, Liverpool are likely to part company with Brendan Rodgers and he might be tempted by a club of that stature.

“If you look at what Jurgen Klopp did at Dortmund, he completely transformed that team from a very mediocre German side into one that beat Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga twice.

“This is a guy who is twenty years younger than Wenger who is absolutely ravenous for success with a new club.

“He loves attacking football, so Arsenal fans wouldn’t be deprived of attacking football, but he would make our defence a granite-like defence.”

If Wenger was to leave, I think Klopp would be near the top of most fans list of potential replacements. I’d love him to come to the Emirates.

The problem is, I think most of us know by now that the board isn’t going to sack Wenger. Only he will decide when it’s time to call it a day, and that isn’t going to happen right now. He may assess things at the end of the season. Until then, we’re going to have to put up with performances like Tuesday night.

That would be the same Jurgen Klopp who nearly got Dortmund relegated last season and quit the club when it was on its knees?

And calling Piers Morgan a shareholder is laughable because you obviously were looking for hits. Piers Morgan has 0.01 shares available – if that. Calling him a shareholder in a bold headline is a bit like calling you a Pulitzer Prize winning writer.

It’s yet time the club to start thinking about the fun’s pain for over nine years. We tried our level of supporting coz that’s our potion but the system of building up the club should be expiring as possible. In this we have to get someone else with a new notes for the club.

I agree with PM that Wenger shd go.Nobody is indispensable in the fw.
It is a results industry and if don’t win consistently, you are out.
Frankly Wenger has performed badly though he has 2 cup wins.
Don’t be surprised the gunners can’t challenge for the epl after exiting form the cl.
Then the board must insist he goes and I say thanks for the memories.
He has failed to build on his past achievement. Maybe the financial
constraints played a part. He had ample time to improve the team and failed to do so.
    I say enough is enough.

Piers “Moron” is an embarrassment to the club. It’d be great if he, along with like-minded “fans”, can go support a different club (Chelsea would suit them just fine)

During the transfer window Kondogbia, Carvalho, Schneiderlin, Imbula. Khedira, Vidal, Schweinsteiger and others were available to be sweet talked into Arsenal. It turns out none of them were good enough for Arsenal. Such Hubris by Wenger. In a situation where everybody, the whole world believes one thing, and Arsene Wenger believes another, it suggests Wenger has mental health issue, or is a complete Dodo. Extinct. Wenger has turned Arsenal from a football club into a bank. Wenger had no longer got creativity, refreshment, backbone, or power to pass on to the team. He was so deluded to think that the above players were not good enough to add backbone to the team. Really Wenger out. NOW!

Wenger is no longer competitive in modern football! The club need to inject new blood in the managerial panel if things are to be improved in term of results.

Wenger should jst leave cus he is a disaster to d Club future. I still cant blif he ignored signing an outfit player during d transfer window… My darlen fans, dis is d main cause of our struggle bcause if a key player gets injured we are left wif no proven substitute. And dis is d Problem. Mr. Wenger has ran out of ideas so he shld leave in peace.

In the best interests of Arsenal FC and those who truly love the club, I ask Piers Morgan to stop abusing his public position in making personal statements about the club and its manager. He is making us a laughing stock.

In airing his views, he drops to the levels of Mourinho & Co, endangering himself to be likened to a sociopath, whose view is the only one of significance, but in reality, the fear of being wrong blocks out everyone else view.

It is clear he likes dancing with that Devil or else he would not have asked him if he’d like to manage AFC one day. Do you honestly think we would accept Mourinho as our manager? It will NEVER happen. I guarantee it, because Wenger will be on the Board when he leaves the manager post and will 100% veto it.

Do you honestly think he would ever sanction a Mourinho philosophy to manage the club? NEVER.

Wenger has earned the right to leave his job when he chooses. He loves and respects the club so much, he will make this decision at the right time. He may well go at the end of this season. We have no right whatsoever to do make it for him. Respect the elder statesman.

By the way…so what if we have not won the CL or Premiership recently? The market is so abusive in terms of player transfer and wage costs, ever since FFP lost its teeth and Man City and Chelsea started shopping at Harrods again after a year or 2 at Aldi!

Arsene is a man of great sophistication – something that a gutter press man Piers once was (and still is) could never understand. He is a bigoted, arrogant self styled, malingering sycophant. I am sick with embarrassment from his link to Arsenal. I suspect he only owns a share to give him credence as a shareholder. I guess he does not care its doubled in value since he bought one!!!

No one is pleased about the mistakes Arsene makes or the team for that matter, but we have been treated to an amazing ride all these years, in a new home, a greater supporter base, and CL football for 18 years, whilst paying off stadium loans, and running the BUSINESS of football. It is precisely that – a business. 2015 football fleeces the fan.Period. If you still support, then pay your way and get what you’re given of go somewhere else.

Arsenal is held back by the greed of other owners of clubs and their questionable money – Arsenal are correct to not spend stupidly, or does Piers know nothing of our proud History?

His disrespect is notable in that is does not reflect the mass opinion – it merely drives the idiotic fringe to go hang a hero. Supporting Arsenal is not perfect but ask Liverpool fans what they have felt like since their last league title. Speak to a Brentford fan, then a Rangers or Leeds fan, or the yo-yo QPR fan.

No one has a right to any trophy – just because Arsene chooses to not play ‘BUY a title’ like Chelsea, City Real, Barca, Bayern. If that’s what Piers wants please GO & SUPPORT one of the above.

Otherwise be quiet, & show respect to Arsene. The man will go in his own time. No he is not perfect and the game has moved on with young managers and new thinking that seemingly outdo him.

It is also awash with filthy amounts of questionable money. Arsenal are and will always be the BoE club. Good on them for not spending it until the market tightens a little.

When the board will understand that the time of Wenger was over a few years ago, when Wenger himself will have the goodwill to leave immediately, alone…
Arsenal need a new coach with energy and ambition. Wenger did what he could, had star moments in its history. But everything has its end. Now is the time to do so with dignity, without hatred but with applause. If Venger slow down even months, Arsenal will lose many things, lost love, players, trust, positions and a lot of money in the end.
Arsene, you’re an intelligent man, go yourself now with thanks and honors, not torture yourself and all of us …
