Striker Could Make €57m Arsenal Move After Holding Talks With Wenger

By on July 20, 2015

Some very interesting news has been circulating today with the Express citing reports from Spain which claim that Karim Benzema has refused to rule out making a €57m to Arsenal after speaking with Arsene Wenger.

Benzema is linked with Arsenal practically every summer and this year has been no different with reports last week claiming that the boss is prepared to wait until the final days of the transfer window to sign the striker after supposedly making him his top target.

Arsene is hotly tipped by the media to bring in another front-man this summer to compete with Olivier Giroud and obviously most Gooners are dreaming about the prospect of Benzema playing alongside the likes of Ozil and Sanchez.

Some media publications insist that the 27-year-old has no intention of leaving Real Madrid this summer but that position could be about to change very quickly following the arrival of Rafa Benitez as manager.

The Express cite a report by El Confidential who claim that Benzema isn’t the type of striker Benitez wants to lead his attack and the former Liverpool boss is apparently eyeing up moves for Sergio Aguero and Fernando Llorente.

The ‘Spanish waiter’ left Benzema on the bench for Saturday’s friendly with Roma and experimented with Bale and Ronaldo through the middle – a formation that many newspapers feel the new boss plans to deploy this coming campaign.

This is obviously bad news for Benzema and El Confidential say that the French striker didn’t give Arsene a definite ‘no’ when the pair discussed a potential move to the Emirates on the phone.

The paper suggests that Benzema is going to see how things go under Benitez for a few weeks before making any decision over his future but they say it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if he was to follow Mesut Ozil to North London.

Now let’s not get too excited just yet as things change very quickly in football and I’m sure we’d face some serious competition if Benzema was to come on the market, but what a signing he would be!

The Express say Madrid could be tempted to sell for around €57m [£40m] and we all know Arsene is a huge fan, so I have a feeling this is the big deal that the boss is holding out for.

Whether we’ll be able to pull it off remains to be seen and a lot of things will have to fall into place before it does, but Benzema would be a game-changer. With him up front we’d have a team capable of winning the title and going deep in the Champions League.

If Rafa continues to play Bale/Ronaldo up front with Benzema warming the bench during pre-season and the early parts of the new campaign, then I honestly think we can persuade him to leave and Madrid always sell one big name each summer.

We got lucky signing Ozil two years ago. Can Arsene pull it off again? Let’s hope so….

If we let Walcott welbeck chamberlain, campbell, wellington and alexis compete for the flanks, we only need 1 striker to compete with giroud and akpom. Loaning out Szczesney will free up that space.

Coquelin, cazorla, wilshire, Ramsey, arteta, rosicky, zelalem and ozil for the 3 in midfield, just another cm required. Sell flamini to free up that space.

Then we have 18 players fighting for 6 positions, now that is competition. Vidal and benzema please.

Fore that is the transfer window done and dusted.

I do not see Arsene Wenger going for Benzama, this is just talk of the media. I think they talk much about him, because they are from the same country. Wenger normally prefers young age and groom them.
