Attacker Hints At Move With Arsenal In Talks Over £27m Deal – Report
According to the Mirror, Pedro Rodriguez has hinted he may be forced to leave Barcelona this summer amid reports Arsenal are in talks over a possible £27m deal.
Pedro has been with Barca his entire career but is no longer a first team regular with the likes of Neymar, Messi, Suarez and new signing Arda Turan all keeping him well down the pecking order.
The 27-year-old has long been linked with a move to Arsenal but he appeared to end talk of a switch this summer after signing a new contract extension last month.
However, it’s been speculated that he only signed that deal to strengthen Barca’s bargaining position in any potential negotiations for his sale and now Pedro has been quoted as saying he’s facing an uncertain future in Spain.
The Mirror claim that Pedro has said:
“It is obviously a delicate situation. [When pre-season starts] we have to see what is the best for everyone,”
These comments come amid reports that Arsenal have stepped up their interest in the player with the Metro claiming earlier this week that we’re in talks over a potential £27m deal to sign Pedro this summer.
Who knows how much truth there is behind all of this as the situation seems to change on a daily basis, but I’d love to see Pedro come to Arsenal as we could do with another versatile option in the final third and he’s capable of playing anywhere across the front three positions.
Despite his bit-part role at the Nou Camp, the Spanish international has still managed to score 98 goals in 318 appearances, so he’d certainly bring an added threat to our attacker if we could lure him to the Emirates.
I’d be surprised if he did stay at Barca as he’s not going to get the required game-time he wants and with the Euro’s coming up next summer, he needs to be playing regularly to force his way into the Spain team, but we’ll have to see how things develop over the coming weeks.
