Prolific Striker Demands Move Amid Reports Arsenal Will Bid £43m

By on July 7, 2015

According to the Express, Gonzalo Higuain has told Napoli he wants to leave the club this summer amid reports Arsenal are lining-up a £43m bid for the striker.

Higuain has long been linked with a move to Arsenal and we came close to buying him when he left Real Madrid back in 2013 before we got distracted by Luis Suarez’s supposed buy-out clause.

The Argentinean international eventually made his way to Naples and has continued to show he’s one of the most deadly strikers in European football with 53 goals in 102 games.

Speculation of a move away from Italy intensified after Napoli failed to qualify for the Champions League next season and predictably he’s been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks.

It appears Arsene Wenger could finally get his hands on the 27-year-old as the Express claim that Higuain has told president Aurelio De Laurentiis that he wants to secure a move away from Napoli this summer.

Higuain has a buy-out clause worth around £67m but there have been reports circulating earlier this week claiming we’ll test Napoli’s resolve with a £43m offer.

These rumours come after former Napoli player and now agent, Jose Alberti, claimed he was 90% sure Higuain would join Arsenal this summer.

“Mourinho didn’t play him, so I don’t think he would go to Chelsea.

‘’In my opinion, I’m 90% sure he will go to Arsenal. It could earn be a minimum of €5million.

‘’It is not possible that a player like him wants to remain at Napoli this year after missing out on the Champions League.’’ Alberti was quoted as saying by Calcio Napoli24

Who knows whether any of this is true or not, but I think Higuain would be an excellent signing if we could somehow pull it off. He’s a top class finisher and would most certainly give us another prolific threat in the final third next season.

Let’s see how things develop over the coming weeks but I expect the rumours to intensify even further the closer we get to the start of the new season.

Would be great if Arsenal can sign him. But this is very hard to believe. Although Podolski is gone now, Arsenal still need to get rid of a few players before they can make room for another superstar on big wages.

With Wenger linked with every player,it’s no surprise this guy
is mentioned. It could be the work of the agents.
Btw,with Cech signed everyone seems to thinks the gunners will challenge for the epl,if not win it.Nothing is preordained. The epl is getting more competitive compared to the late 90s when red faced used to dominate.
Arsenal still lacked a physical presence ,with due respect to Coquelin.
Wenger has been associated with smallish players. I hope he will go for a Veira clone.
If things don’t workout due to the lack of muscle in the team,Wenger
    could come under pressure.
