Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Tables €18m Bid

By on July 5, 2015

Arsenal have tabled an €18m (£14m) bid for highly-rated Juventus defender Daniele Rugani but may have to dig a little deeper as it appears the Italians are holding out for more, according to the Express newspaper.

Rugani has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months with reports back in April suggesting that Arsene Wenger was keeping a close eye on the Italian youngster ahead of a proposed summer swoop.

It appears the boss has now formalised that interest as the Express are citing reports coming out of Italy that claim we’ve tabled an €18m (£14m) offer.

However, it looks like it may have fallen short as the newspaper suggests that the Serie A champions are set to reject our advances as boss Massimo Allegri is reluctant to lose the highly-rated centre-back.

Rugani is highly unlikely to break into the Juve first team any time soon as he’s up against some stiff competition from the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci so you’d think they may be open to doing business.

The 20-year-old has spent the previous two seasons out on loan at Empoli as he can’t get a game in Turin, so I have a feeling he may be available at the right price.

He’s been hugely impressive at Emploi over the past 24 months and he’s being tipped to break into the Italian senior squad after being an U-21 regular, so Rugani sounds like he has a really bright future ahead of him.

The problem is, even if we agree a deal with the Serie A champions, he’s unlikely to get any more first team football at Arsenal than he is at Juve so he may decide just to stay in Turin and wait for his chance to play for his boyhood team.

For that reason, I have a feeling the player will need some persuading to come to North London this summer and a deal is unlikely in my option.
