Petr Cech Offers Arsenal Transfer Update Via Twitter

Petr Cech has taken to Twitter to play down suggestions a move from Chelsea to Arsenal is a ‘done deal’.

Reports on Monday suggested we were on the verge of announcing Cech as our first summer signing with the Daily Mail claiming that the deal was ‘complete’.

The newspaper suggested that we had agreed an £11m deal with Chelsea and the Mirror also claimed that the keeper was moving to the Emirates on a five-year contract worth £100,000-a-week.

However, Cech has taken to Twitter to play down talk of a ‘done deal’ after retweeting a message from his PR company which denied a transfer was complete.

So what should we make of this move by the Czech international and his PR company?

I personally wouldn’t read too much into it. With neither Arsenal nor Chelsea making any official comment on the situation, Cech’s camp were never going to confirm the deal.

Instead, they’ve moved to clarify that a transfer is not yet complete – which it isn’t. But that’s not to say it isn’t close or even that a fee hasn’t been agreed.

Remember, a transfer isn’t a ‘done deal’ until he’s standing holding the shirt on Arsenal.com. Before that happens, he still needs to undergo a medical, have photo-shoots and officially sign his contract.

So I would guess that personal terms and a fee are agreed, but we’re waiting to finalise other formalities before announcing the transfer.

That’s my best guess on the situation and I hope I’m right, as Arsenal fans would go into meltdown if we didn’t end up signing Cech after all this!

    Arsenal fans will be surprised because Wenger is not even attempt to go for Petr Cech, what is circulating is not correct. They rush to publish false news everyday. Wenger is laughing at them.
