Arsenal Eye €23m Uruguayan Star, Club Ready To Sell – Report
According to reports today, Arsenal are eyeing a move for Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera in-case we fail to sign Petr Cech this summer.
Cech is set to leave Chelsea after losing his place in Jose Mourinho’s team to Thibaut Courtois and he’s been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates.
However, with the likes of Manchester United, PSG, Liverpool and Besiktas also reportedly keen, it seems we’ve identified a back-up option with talkSPORT claiming that Arsene Wenger has his eye on Uruguayan international Fernando Muslera.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed another excellent season at Galatasaray but the Turkish giants are supposedly resigned to losing their No.1 this summer and are ready to sell if their €23m (£15m) asking price is met.
The boss is expected to bring in another keeper this summer with Wojciech Szczesny set to leave after being axed from the first team back in January and a loan move to Southampton has been mooted.
I’ve said for many weeks our priority should be to sign Cech and that hasn’t changed but Muslera would be an excellent alternative if we can’t land the Chelsea stopper.
He’s perhaps more erratic than Cech but he’s capable of pulling off some stunning saves and I still feel he’d be an upgrade on the keepers we’ve already got at the club.
