Ramsey & Per Out: My Arsenal Starting XI To Face Liverpool

Arsenal get back to Premier League action this weekend as we welcome Liverpool to the Emirates in what will be a vital game in the top four chase. This is the side I’d like to see Arsene Wenger select….

Ospina was in decent form before the international break and it’s safe to say he’s ousted Szczesny from the No.1 spot so the Colombian should continue between the sticks on Saturday.

I’m not convinced Arsene will do it, but I’d personally go with Gabriel alongside Koscielny in defence. Liverpool have plenty of pace in attack so even at home, it would be wise to go with the Brazilian for his mobility.

Debuchy returned to action in a friendly on Tuesday but I doubt he’s 100% match fit yet so Bellerin should continue at right-back while I’d go with Gibbs over Monreal on the left as he has the pace needed to deal with Sterling.

Wilshere and Arteta also took part in the friendly against Brentford but like Debuchy, they will be short of match fitness so Coquelin and Cazorla should continue their partnership in the middle of the park.

This would see Ramsey miss out but without sacrificing Cazorla or Ozil, I don’t see how we can fit him into the team at the minute. Harsh but true.

If Welbeck passes hit late fitness test then he should start on the right otherwise we’ll have to go with Theo as Oxlade-Chamberlain is still feeling the effects of the hamstring injury that’s ruled him out of the last three weeks.

The other three positions are fairly straight-forward with Ozil and Sanchez supporting Giroud in attack.

So this is how I’d line-up:

The major decisions for Arsene is Gabriel/Mertesacker, Gibbs/Monreal, Cazorla/Ramsey and Welbeck/Walcott. It’s difficult to know what the boss will do but this is the eleven I’d go with.

I suppose we should feel thankful that we’ve finally got some options and the boss will have some real selection headaches when The Ox, Wilshere, Arteta and Debuchy return to full fitness!

I honestly feel Mertesacker’s experience will be key in this game as well as Monreal’s positioning. In the middle of the pack I expect to see Ramsey partnering Coquelin which means Carzola will be pushed further forward and Ozil on the wing though am never been satisfied with him tracking back. Too bad Welbeck would have been the better bet.
    OSPINA,
    BELLERIN, MERTESACKER, KOSCIELNY, MONREAL
    COQUELIN, RAMSEY
    CARZOLA
    OZIL, GIROUD, SANCHEZ.
