RATINGS: Sanchez MOTM As Arsenal Beat QPR 2-1
Arsenal once again made life difficult for themselves after securing a nervy 2-1 win over QPR this evening.
Sanchez and Rosicky got the goals over a QPR side that we should have put at least 4 past, but we were forced to hold on to secure a 2-1 win thanks to Giroud’s stupidity in getting himself sent off early in the second half.
Here are my ratings:
Szczesny – 6/10 – A virtual bystander for the first half but forced to make a few routine saves after the break.
Debuchy – 7/10 – Very positive going forward and unlucky to give away the penalty.
Mertesacker – 7.5/10 – A strong presence at the back. Certainly seems to combine well alongside Monreal.
Monreal – 7.5/10 – Another impressive outing in the middle. Made a couple of important blocks.
Gibbs – 7/10 – Lovely ball for Sanchez’s goal and was solid enough defensively.
Flamini – 7/10 – Made a crucial block to deny Isla’s goal-bound header in the final minute. Kept his discipline in front of the back four.
Cazorla – 7.5/10 – Played a key part in the opening goal and worked hard in the centre of the park.
Rosicky – 7.5/10 – Lovely finish for the second goal and made an impressive return to the side.
Alexis – 8/10 – Poor penalty but made up for it with the opener. Also put in some great work for the second goal and worked his socks off. World class. MOTM
Welbeck – 6/10 – Made some useful runs but didn’t really pose any sort of threat in front of goal.
Giroud – 3/10 – Utterly ludicrous decision to confront Onuoha. Gave the ref no option but to send him off. Going down to 10 meant we had to hang on for the win in the end.
Subs:
Chambers – 6/10 – Got beaten a few times by Hoilett down the right side.
Coquelin – N/A – Only on for a few minutes.
So a vital three points in the bag and we’re just two points off fourth-placed West Ham – who we play at Upton Park on Sunday. Unfortunately we’ll now be without Giroud for the next three games thanks to his stupidity this evening.
