Injury News: Walcott Returns, Welbeck Knock, Koscielny Ruled Out

Theo Walcott Arsenal

Arsenal will receive a huge boost this weekend with Theo Walcott set to be named in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Sunderland.

Theo hasn’t featured for the first team since injuring his knee against Tottenham n an FA Cup tie back in early January.

He got 45 minutes under his belt for the Under-21’s last Friday and now the Telegraph are reporting that Walcott is expected to be named in the squad that travels to Wearside this weekend.

Arsene Wenger is going to give one final assessment in training on Friday morning but the newspaper claims that as it stands, Theo will be named in the squad.

This is obviously a major boost and it couldn’t have come at a better time as the team is crying out for some width. We were far too narrow on Wednesday night so hopefully Theo’s return will see more variety in our attacking play.

I wouldn’t expect him to start but he’ll be a real weapon to bring off the bench in the second half.

In a further boost, Danny Welbeck is also expected to be passed fit despite picking up a minor knock against Anderlecht last night.

However, the Telegraph are also reporting that Laurent Koscielny is set to miss out once again with a niggling Achilles injury, so Nacho Monreal is expected to continue his partnership with Per Mertesacker at the back.

As Sunderland are not in form, it is best Arsenal attack right from the whistle. Here is the chance to pile pressure on them with quick goals. Watch out for our tired legs and replace them with fresh ones. Improve on our passing and possession and pressure them to prevent them from scoring. Be quick on any counter attack and score to kill off the game. Concentrate on the game for the duration of the game. Arsene must make the change to fix concentration level. I believe the high injuries are caused by unintelligent play e.g. bulldozing and too much dribbling instead of quick and crisp passing. Make sure the brains are above the shoulders and not between the legs. Be ready for plan B when plan A doesn’t work.

Me I also think we need to employ a 4-3-3 formation which will see theo, sanchez and welbeck at the final 3.this looks more productive and penetrating.and as for nacho playing as cb,that’s capital nonsence,he’s not good enough for that, nacho is stil struggling to play satisfiably at his so called lb nd wenger is using him as a cb along side a per that doesn’t even work hard just giving orders like he’s a traffic warder.jose came back to chelsea 2seasons ago and he’s built back his team to a standard form down to the bench but its taking wenger almost forever to build up the arsenal which was scattered way back as at 2005. Hhuussshh we’ve really gat a lotta work to do wenger,or may be he should just leave.

Wenger really killed our game dis season, Monreal is a left back not a CB, wen a coach feels he knows 2 much dis is wat will 2 him, Wenger had d who chance in d world 2 get us a CB but blew it away and now we are suffring 4 it.

When a fan thinks he knows to much he knows nothing. Hence the reason arsenes the coach and your not.monreal has put in some good displays at cb better than how vermaelen was playing last season.he is also very dominant in the air dispite his height.he is also an excellent passer of the ball and moves the ball allot quicker than kosc. He has a good tackle success rate aswell. I’m not basing his performance at cb on the last couple of weeks because I’ve seen him play that position in pre season aswell

Wenger has three seasons to bring back this team to its standard. failure to do so,I think it will be fair enough to part ways with him. come to Sunderland game, it won’t be that easy as we know Sunderland were thumped by soton the other weekend and now they are up to correct it. I would wish Wenger to include podolski and Campbell in his first eleven.scezsney
    Gibbs per chambers. bellarine

    arteta

    Chamberlain. Ramsey

    Sanchez carzola. Campbell

    podolski.

Opinion divided! Actually Wenger killed and still killing us. Its a pity. I would prefer a 4-3-3 formation or 4-4-2 as well.

Wenger should not try to use dat monreal boy with per. the two partnership cant be productive. lazy and slow defenders, what rubbish when he has money and time to buy a good CB but the stubborn 65year old man refused. campbell has been playing fairly well and deserves more playing time. ramsey should be drop as he hasnt gotten back to form. wish them well COYG!
