Arsenal Crisis Deepens As Key Defender Becomes Latest Injury Doubt
Just as we have some positive news on Jack Wilshere, it seems Arsenal are now sweating on the fitness of another key player with reports claiming that Laurent Koscielny could miss the Galatasaray game.
Koscielny has been nursing a niggling Achilles injury in recent weeks and it was this issue that forced him to miss the Leicester City game last month.
It appears the Frenchman has aggravated the injury during the Tottenham game as Goal are suggesting that Arsenal are now sweating on the fitness of the 29-year-old ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Galatasaray.
The report states that Kos is a major doubt and will face a late fitness test to determine whether he’ll be risked or not, but I’d personally not take any chances with him.
He’s far too important to the team and it would be a disaster if we risked him against the Turks only for him to make the injury worse and be ruled out for weeks or months.
If there is any doubt over his fitness then we should rest him and play Calum Chambers in the middle alongside Per Mertesacker, and bring Hector Bellerin in at right-back.
We’re already going to be without Aaron Ramsey for up to six weeks and Mikel Arteta for three weeks, so the last thing we need is another first team player out for any length of time.
Thankfully there’s another international break coming up after the Chelsea game so our injured players won’t miss too many Arsenal games and it will give the likes of Theo Walcott and Abou Diaby a chance to work on their fitness and push for first team returns in a few weeks time.
