Confirmed: Arsenal Sign Danny Welbeck From Man Utd For £16m

By on September 2, 2014

Arsenal have finally completed the signing of Danny Welbeck from Manchester United.

We agreed a fee believed to be £16m on Monday evening and it’s understood a medical and personal terms were swiftly concluded.

However, the deal was held up as United refused to sign off the deal until they completed their move for Radamel Falcao and extensions were granted by the FA for both deals to be wrapped up.

After a frustrating wait, Arsenal have now announced on Arsenal.com that Welbeck has joined the club on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

While the club have not revealed the fee, reports claim it’s £16m, with the 23-year-old understood to have penned a five-year deal worth around £100,000-a-week.

Welbeck’s certainly not in the same bracket as some of the names we’ve been linked with this summer, such as Falcao, Cavani, Reus, Benzema or even Balotelli, but I actually think he could be an astute signing.

He’s a tall, strong striker who’s capable of playing the target man role and has a decent touch to bring others into play. He also has pace to go behind and is capable of playing on the wings if needed, so will give Arsene plenty of options.

The important thing is the fans give him time and don’t get on his back straight away. I don’t think there’s any doubt he’s an upgrade on Sanogo and he’s going to be hungry to prove his doubters wrong.

It’s astounding that we haven’t brought in a defensive midfielder or a centre-back, but at least we’ve now got another striker in the squad to cover for the injured Olivier Giroud.

Well i think Welback will be better than Giroud and Sanogo. Just hope he’ll make a good striker for the team.

To be realistic, I don’t believe that our manager didn’t sign a defensive midfielder. The reason is wenger don’t love the club. He is stressing us the fans

Bako Yila, do you even watch football ?? Welbeck will be bettr then Grioud ? total nonse and welbeck is not what we needed and wenger will not play him upfront.

I can see him wide left and hopefully means more protection for our left back an ozil gets to play in middle.

Wenger has really let the fans down yet again ! we needed a CB and DM and he signs welbeck. Mario B would have been 100 times better , wenger lacks the abilty to buy what is needed now days.
