RATINGS: Leicester 1-1 Arsenal: Sanogo Fails To Take His Chance

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at Leicester City on Sunday afternoon with the hosts equalising just two minutes after Alexis Sanchez had opened the scoring.

Our performance was sluggish and we barely got out of second gear, and a draw was probably a fair result in the end. Here are my ratings:

Szczesny 7/10 | Could do nothing for the goal but pulled off a vital save to deny Varney a winner.

Debuchy 6/10 | Not at his attacking best today and the cross for their goal came from his side.

Mertesacker 6/10 | His pace was exposed on a couple of occasions but still put in a decent display.

Koscielny 5/10 | Was at fault for the goal but shouldn’t have been allowed back on the pitch after a head injury.

Monreal 6/10 | Steady enough. Didn’t offer much going forward.

Flamini 5/10 | Was anonymous at times as Leicester ripped straight through our midfield on several occasions. We need a better defensive midfielder if we’re to challenge for the title.

Ramsey 5/10 | Very disappointing from Rambo. Stray passes, shooting was wayward, it just wasn’t his day.

Cazorla 5/10 | Was slightly better on the ball than Ramsey, but still couldn’t influence the game.

Ozil 6/10 | Drifted all across the pitch to get himself on the ball. Was always economical with it but he needs better to work off up front.

Alexis 7/10 | Worked his socks off again and was on hand to fire home the opener. Still not quite on the same wavelength as his team mates at times but that will come.

Sanogo 4/10 | Out of his depth. Missed a couple of good opportunities and was just a level below those around him. He didn’t take his chance to show Arsene he was the answer to our striking problems. A striker is badly needed.

Subs:

Chambers 5/10 | On for Koscielny and jumped into a couple of tackles again. Needs to cut that out of his game.

The Ox 6/10 | His direct running and pace made a difference. Should have been on earlier.

Lukas Podolski 4/10 | Barely touched the ball and didn’t really look too interested to be honest.

It was a poor performance overall. Hopefully the players will come back refreshed after the international break.

Sanogo is awful! No skill, weak, uncoordinated, out of position, very poor finishing, an awful player. Would not have made the Leicester bench. Campbell has proven himself in Greece, in PL, and CL. What is Wenger thinking?

The point you miss is that you expected to beat Leicester but although we are finding our feet in this division we are a very good football team you weren’t sluggish you were simply equalled on the pitch

Dont agree that Sanogo was that bad!!! He worked hard and did not miss any clear opportunities. He got three shooting opportunities and got shots off on all those occasions on two occasions the defenders blocked his shots for corners and on the third occasion the keeper made a good one v one stop to deny him.

Seems Arsenal blogs select a least favorite player to get on their shoulders each season, and you seem to have picked Sanogo today, so he could do no good in your eyes.

Incidentally as a lone striker, how good could he have been if all the players meant to supply him played so badly??

Has Campbell proven himself in Greece, WC, and CL? Has Sanogo played in the a top league? Sanago can barely walk and chew gum. Have other teams inquired about Sanogo? If he is such and exceptional talent, loan him out and he will prove himself. We do not have the luxury to wait for him to improve.

Sanogo is a good player but definitely not for Arsenal, and why can’t Wenger put Podolski instead of Groud and Sanogo.he is far much better than those two.Wenger is really playing with Arsenal fans’s feeling.we are tired of fighting for 4th position every season, we not improving even in buying players bt we’re just replacing and replacing even with low quality players e.g Sanogo and Groud vs Van persie.they both don’t even come close to his quality, Campbell is a very good young striker tht can bring something special bt Wenger don’t give him a chance, that ridiculous.
