Arsenal Hold Talks To Sign Falcao As Real Madrid End Interest

By on August 29, 2014

It looks like Arsenal have a clear run at Radamel Falcao with reports in Spain claiming that Real Madrid have sensationally ended their interest in the striker.

Monaco have made Falcao available on loan as the clubs owners are keen to get his high wages off the books as part of new cost-cutting measures.

Speculation suggests that Arsenal and Real Madrid have been leading the chase for the 28-year-old’s signature, with both clubs understood to have held talks with Monaco officials and the players agent in Monte Carlo on Thursday after the Champions League draw.

Many thought it was only a matter of time until a move to the Bernabeu was sealed, but reports in Spain claim that Carlo Ancelotti isn’t convinced they need the Colombian and the European champions have now apparently ended their interest.

Previous reports have indicated that Falcao has made it clear he’s open to the idea of joining Arsenal on loan, so with Madrid seemingly out of the race, we’re clear to snap up the deadly hitman if we want him badly enough.

The problem is will Arsene Wenger pay the money required to land him? It’s understood that Monaco want a loan fee of around £12m while Falcao’s wages will be around £8m, meaning the entire deal will cost us £20m.

I personally doubt that Arsene would spend that kind of money on a short-term fix, even if it meant getting one of the best strikers on the planet for a season.

If these reports turn out to be accurate and we end up turning down the chance to sign Falcao without bringing in another striker before the window closes, I dread of the backlash Arsene will face from the fans….

WHY in heavens would a manager of AW’s status think twice before bringing in a Top Class striker like Falcao? His mere presence even at 50% fitness will frighten the brightest defender. His presence reminds me of Drogba in his best days. AW should understand that this is the BEST time and BET for him to get trophies and results this season. For 12 Million plus 8 in personal fees in one year of great results. Why Not?

Would rather use the 20million to sign Marco Rues and give him a long-term contract than sign Falcao a short-term fix
