Arsenal Attempting To Push Through £28m Double Deal – Reports

By on August 20, 2014

Reports this afternoon claim that Arsenal are trying to push through a £28m double swoop for William Carvalho and Kostas Manolas.

We’ve been strongly linked with Manolas in recent days and reports have suggested that the Greek centre-back is already in London undergoing a medical ahead of an £8m move from Olympiakos.

It’s not clear whether those reports are accurate but Goal claim that we are closing in on a deal for the 23-year-old and hope to make it a double swoop with the outlet also suggesting  that we’ve now tabled a formal £20m bid for midfielder Carvalho.

Arsenal have been tracking the Portuguese international for some time and it looks like we’ve finally made our interest official.  However, it appears we may have to up our bid as Goal claim that Sporting have rejected our offer and are demanding nearer £28m for their star man.

The report states that the proposed deal is being complicated by the fact a third party company own 40% of Carvalho’s economic rights, but we’re expected to go back in with an improved bid as we try to get the deal over the line before the window slams shut at the end of the month.

Manolas is an excellent young centre-back who would give us real depth at the back, while Carvalho is the powerhouse midfielder we desperately need to compliment the creative talents of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, so they’d be superb additions to the squad.

I was only expecting Arsene to bring in one more player but if we could sign both Manolas and Carvalho we’d be well set-up for the season ahead. Although ideally I still think we could do with another top class striker, but I really don’t see the boss signing any more attackers this summer.

If we get those two, then watch out for Arsenal, may be not for this, but for next season.

Carvalho would be the most important signing of the summer if he were to arrive. It’s painfully obvious we need a quality defensive midfield player. Some may say we need a striker but I feel we have many attacking options. I would like to see Theo and the Ox playing wide with Alexis through the

middle, with Mesut pulling the strings behind Alexis. Rambo as the box to box with Carvalho holding. Title winning formation in my opinion.

Huge development IF true. But we still need a striker who knows how to score. OG12 needs some competition to make him sit up. We can’t babysit a 27 year old forever. He’s decent but should not be saddled with carrying the burden of finishing the many chances we always create.

“It’s not clear whether those reports are accurate but Goal claim”

I think it’s pretty clear that these reports are not accurate.

Bonaroca:- Mr wenger should get Carvalho at all cost as a defensive midfielder. Whether he could get Cavani is another matter, but I am sure this will add more fire power up front.

Mr Wenger should make hale while the sun shines and get those two players as soon as possible while there is still cash left in the KITTY.

Fellow gunners, stop analysing football as if you playing fifa on the screen. There are alot of holes in that squad.

1-we have so many short guys in that squad and therefore we lose many high balls in the middle of the pack.we need some tall guys. Most goals scored against us are set pieces coz the guys are too short

2-we lack some1 who can pass a long ball. There are so many 1 meter passes that the opponents recover their positions b4 we reach half pitch.we need some1 with long passing range

3- We lack a free kick specialist.look at all the title winning clubs in the world.

4-The left flank is always isolated why? becoz we lack threat on that wing. why shd we use one side.get Rues or Douglas costa to play on that flank. All the guys we have like the right flank.

5-our striker is the worst in europe.try putting him on sale and see how many will bid for him.Even Bendtner can score 22 goals in all competitions with Ozil behind him

6-why don’t we have a DM for Christ’s sake plus Gibbs is too injury prone and Monreal is a weak link
