Madrid Willing To Sell Khedira To Arsenal For Just €10m – Reports

By on August 15, 2014

Spanish outlet AS are reporting today that Real Madrid are now willing to accept as little as €10m for Arsenal target Sami Khedira this summer in order to avoid losing the midfielder for nothing in 12 months time.

Arsenal were strongly linked with Khedira earlier in the summer when Madrid were believed to be demanding around €30m following his excellent displays at the World Cup.

Any potential deal stalled over Khedira’s excessive wage demands – which were in the region of £150,000-a-week after tax – so we’ve subsequently moved on to other targets.

However, things have changed in the past week or so. Khedira was left out of the Madrid squad by Carlo Ancelotti for their Super Cup clash with Sevilla on Tuesday night, even though fellow outcast Angel Di Maria was involved.

This has been taken as a clear sign that the German international is being forced out of the Bernabeu with the Madrid hierarchy understood to be unhappy at the way Khedira has conducted himself during contract negotiations.

With just 12 months remaining on his current deal, Spanish newspaper AS claim today that Madrid are now willing to accept as little as €10m for Khedira as they want rid of him this summer.

The paper believes that Arsenal have been holding out until the final weeks of the window in order to bring the price down, and it seems to have worked, so we should expect renewed interest in the midfielder during the closing stages of the transfer window.

There’s no doubt we should be biting Madrid’s hands off if they are willing to cash in for just €10m, but there would still be a few stumbling blocks to overcome and AS claim that Chelsea and Fiorentina are also keen on the 27-year-old while wages could also still be an issue.

However, if he’s forced out of Madrid, Khedira is likely to have to drop his wage demands in order to secure a move elsewhere and the report suggests that Fiorentina feel €3.5m-a-year after tax should be enough to tempt him.

Whether that turns out to be the case remains to be seen, but I do think we’re going to see a late scramble for Khedira’s signature with Arsenal firmly at the front of the queue.

Khedira may not be the out-and-out defensive midfielder I think we desperately need, but he’d still be a superb addition to the squad, so I’d be delighted if we end up bringing him to the Emirates.

If our Germans only started training this week, what makes you think Khedira was fit to play in the Super Cup?

I would rather Wenger had sorted transfers out much earlier so the whole squad was “together”. We should have had William Carvalho, plus a CB plus a striker already. Wenger is addicted to his transfer deadline day buys. He’s like a sniffer in a car boot sale. There is a great CB buy out there….Fabian Schar. He’s helped turn Basel of Switzerland into a real dangerous team.

      The current squad is “together”.

And barring other business our “first choice” XI is set for now.

But don’t dismiss “late business” so easily. It’s not just up to us when we’re able to sign a target – other parties are involved too. That’s how we got Ozil. And there’s that pesky CL qualifier to hurdle first.

We need a CB (“for sure”). But even if he arrived yesterday it would still be madness to play him before Everton (when Per would be available).

Obviously, I’d like a DM of scary quality. But if it doesn’t happen this TW, it’ll happen next summer. Also note the likes of Khedira and Pogba are not proper sit-back-and-kill DMs. And that’s what we’re lacking.

Nice to hear Bâle get a mention, though.

He was not left out…he lacks match fitness.Arsena did not play their germany trio against Man City,I dnt think that meant they want to offload them,or do they?

I think Neal is right, how do people expect him to be on the first eleven if he only reported for traing on the 11th August 2014. Even if I was the coach of Madrid, I would not allow him to play. So the issue of thinking he was left out because they want to sell him is a wishful thinking. There is no truth on that, he was not fit for the game, that is the reason why he was left out of the team. We have read so many stories about Khedira, these sports jornalist are not doing a proper reseach they base on roumers only. If I say something about Khedira today they will all write about the incorrect information, that is what they are good at. I am not sure what kind of sports writer are they.

There is so much to learn in the Khedira Saga. Especially as it relates to the need to avoid GREED and imbibe the principle of fair play. He over rated himself and out-bided himself in the Transfer Market. Surely, Real Madrid will frustrate the heavens out his life as he will rot on the bench. Meanwhile James and Kroos do not seem like guys ready to let loose their places in the team. So Khedira goes for far less in the market. What a shame!!!
