Arsenal To Open Talks With Cameroon International Over Shock Move

By on August 14, 2014

According to reports today, Arsenal are set to open talks with former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Stephane Mbia about a free transfer switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger is on the hunt for a versatile defensive midfielder who can also fill in at centre-back if needed and the likes of William Carvalho has been strongly linked in recent weeks.

However, with Sporting Lisbon asking for over £20m for the Portuguese international, it seems the boss has turned his attention to a cheaper alternative as the Metro are reporting that we are set to open talks with free agent Stephane Mbia.

The 28-year-old is without a club after leaving QPR at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract and although the Cameroonian international has been linked with a permanent move to Sevilla – where he spend last season on loan – the newspaper suggests that Arsenal are ready to make their move.

Mbia is predominantly a defensive midfielder but can also operate at the back if needed, so he does fill the positions we need strengthening, but I’d personally be extremely disappointed if he’s the player we end up signing.

He was extremely poor for QPR during his debut season in 2012/13 before he was loaned out to Sevilla and in my opinion, he’s nowhere near the ‘world class’ bracket we should be looking at.

Carvalho or Schneiderlin would be FAR better options, so let’s hope these links to Mbia are nothing more than idle paper-talk.

Back to the car boot sale for cheapies. I doubt if this is true. If it is, no wonder Arsenal will never win the Premier League with Arsene Wenger. I really doubt if this is true unless Wenger is suffering from Sylvestre/Squillaci disease, where a manager buys the worst player available whilst in a halluciogenic deluded state of mind, thinking the player is worth a 100million.

Unless he has improved enormously, although whole-hearted, he is not good enough for Arsenal. The fans at the Emirates would also be embarrassed by the way that he does about 12 rolls along the turf after being tackled heavily and when he is the tackler, he will accidentally (I mean it) clatter opponents and get cards as a result. Not sure that even Mr W could coach those little defects out of his game.

    A life-long QPR fan.
