Arsenal ‘Have Made €63.5m Striker Bid’ – Reports In Spain

By on August 14, 2014

According to Spanish outlet AS, Arsenal have made a €63.5m bid for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani which should be enough to persuade the French outfit to sell.

Cavani had been tipped to leave PSG this summer after complaining about having to play out on the wing and the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd were all linked with a move at one point or another.

The striker appeared to commit his future to the Parc des Princes earlier this month after stating that he was now content at the club following talks with boss Laurent Blanc.

However, that doesn’t appear to have damped our interest in the Uruguayan as following days of rumours, AS claim today we have now tabled a €63.5m (£51m) offer.

The Spanish newspaper then state that the bid will be accepted by PSG – citing the Metro as their source – as the French champions want to raise funds to help finance their move for Angel Di Maria.

It’s not clear whether AS are using the Metro as their source for the entire story, or just that they expect PSG to sell, but either way I have some serious doubts over the validity of the report.

We’ve already spent big money on Alexis Sanchez and Arsene has not only put on record that he plans to eventually use the Chilean through the middle, while the boss has also confirmed that he’s now only in the market for a defensive-minded player.

Therefore, even though Arsene is a huge fan of Cavani, there is very little chance he’d be looking to spend over £50m on another striker right now.

The priority is to bring in a defensive midfielder who can also play at centre-back, so as much as we’d all love to believe that Cavani could be heading to the Emirates this summer, I wouldn’t be rushing out to get his name printed on your shirt just yet.

But why… Giroud just got extension and Wenger has been trusting Sanogo, giving him more playing time after last season and he has had a decent form recently, he actually plays pretty well disturbing the defense and he’s very strong also. Don’t forget about Campbell and ofcourse Sanchez who can fill that position.

Why the F would Wenger spend £51mil on a old striker who’s even slower than Giroud and didn’t have a very good World Cup either.

if you read the “Just Arsenal” comment from Saturday 9th August. Counting the sell on from Cescs move and Velas money, along with Verminators and Djourou, Arsene has only spent £21.5 mill, so there should still be plenty to buy Cavani, a CB and Dmf.

why is a newspaper in spain reporting on a story based in england and france, that alone makes it completely unreliable.

If Wenger wish to sign Cavani, I think his right but I don’t know how true about the rumour… Because, our Team is found of getting Injuries during the Mid of the Season, we still have plenty of Money to spend, he sold our Captain, and Cesc balance also…. Sign Cavani, ̷̸̷̥̐ ∕̴Ɩ ̷̐ Centre Defender and ̷̸̷̥̐ ∕̴Ɩ ̷̐ Holding Mid fielder… Is ̷̸̷̥̐ ∕̴Ɩ ̷̐ very long season, which we all knows that. I hate Wenger giving excuses when we Lost to the Big Teams season after Season… Gunners 4life…!!!!!

Arsenal should go for Marco Reus instead of wasting money on Cavani. The price is too much too pay for just like that, and spending £28 million on Marco Reus of such potential at a very young age isn’t much because he will contribute to arsenal’s midfield, striking area and the attacking aspect as well. Marco Reus is of more potential compare to Giroud and Cavani, Giroud is of more potential compare to Cavani.
Arsenal should also go for the young Rabiot to come and develop at the emirate and take over from the old players because of his with ability at the centre of the field.

cavani is indeed a good striker and it will b nice to have him in our squard, but a dm and cb is wot we are badly in need of.,. Gunners till i die.
