“Arsenal Were Always My Favourite Team. I Believe I’m Good Enough”

By on August 1, 2014

Joel Campbell believes he’s good enough to succeed in the Premier League at Arsenal and says we’ve always been his favourite team due to the way we play.

The Costa Rican has just returned from a four-day training camp in Austria where he was hoping to convince Arsene Wenger he’s got what it takes to be part of the first squad this season.

The 22-year-old joined the club in 2011 but had to go out on loan as he didn’t qualify for a UK working visa and he’s spent time at Lorient, Real Betis and Olympiakos in recent years.

There are rumours he might be set for another loan spell with Southampton, Newcastle, AC Milan and Galatasaray among the clubs interested, but Campbell is determined to make it at Arsenal and believes he’s good enough to play for us in the Premier League.

“The Premier League’s the most interesting in the world and I’ve always wanted to play here,”

“It’s my dream. And I believe I’m good enough.”

“I’ve played around 100 games in three different top divisions in Europe – Lorient in France, Real Betis in Spain and Olympiakos in Greece, where I played Champions League, too.

“I also have 36 caps for my country and I have just played at a World Cup – the biggest competition on the planet.

“So I’m confident of being successful in any division in the world.” source: ESPN

Campbell went on to say that Arsenal have always been his favourite team because of our style of play and it seems he’d like to follow in the footsteps of  Gunners legend Thierry Henry. He continued:

“He [Henry] is the best example you can follow if you want to be a top striker,”

“Arsenal were always my favourite team because of the way they play. It was exciting to watch and gave me my passion for the Premier League.”

I must admit I’m a huge fan of Campbell’s and feel he deserves a chance to show what he can do for us. I expect he’ll be given some game time at the Emirates Cup this weekend and maybe even at the Community Shield before the boss makes a decision over his future.

If he’s not going to get many minutes with us then a loan spell would make sense, but I hope he goes to a Premier League team so we can see how he does in English football.

MR Wenger please give the young man a chance because he has what it takes to our match winners. We will need him as the season its long with lots of games like the FA,UEFA and Barclays premier league. Most players will be tired and having injuries. Our goal its to have gold medals this season so we need to save him so that we maintain the tempo the consistence in the league.

The young man JOE CAMPELL has got power ,speed, ball control ,vision and a goal poacher. Having Campell and Alexis on top it will show that we are on business.Giroud will miss a lot of goals and score 1 in 5 chances. Mr Wenger please please give that young man that chance to prove as he was leading his country to the quarter finals at world cup. Please consider that when deciding his future. I love Arsenal with all my heart sir

He says he’s good enough, fans think he’s good enough, but does Wenger concur? We’ll soon see what the decision of the club is. But in my opinion, the boy is worth giving a chance. Surely that is not too much, Mr. Wenger?

And we’re asking nicely too…PLEEEASE Mr. Wenger! The determination he brings to the pitch is something. He will give defenders nightmares and score plenty of goals.

Plus the massive loyalty he will bring with him… a gunner at heart, living his dream and not likely to betray us somewhere down the line like a certain star of Catalan extraction.
