VIDEO: Arsenal 2-0 Boreham Wood: Olsson & Afobe On Target For Gunners

By on July 19, 2014

Arsenal kicked off their pre-season preparations with a comfortable 2-0 win over Boreham Wood at Meadow Park on Saturday afternoon thanks to goals from Olsson and Afobe.

Arsene Wenger named a side mixed with youth and experience and made wholesale changes at the break after a goalless first half, with the likes of Tomas Rosicky, Chuba Akpom and Abou Diaby getting a run out.

It was the Czech international who set up the opening goal in the 68th minute when Rosicky’s superb pass set youngster Olsson clear and he cooly flicked home for 1-0.

Akpom then showed some nice skill to break into the box in the dying minutes and the referee pointed to the spot after Afobe was fouled challenging for his resulting cross. The striker dusted himself off and tucked it home for 2-0.

A decent work out and as ever in pre-season friendlies, it’s more about the fitness than the result.
