Wenger Close To Sealing Double Swoop + Deal To Be Announced Today

By on July 16, 2014

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hopeful of tying up deals for David Ospina and Javi Manquillo this week while the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy is expected to be finally announced today.

According to reports, we’ve agreed a £3m fee with Nice for goalkeeper Ospina and are now set to negotiate personal terms with the Colombian international, who was hugely impressive at the World Cup this summer.

The 25-year-old is available at a cut-price as he’s in the final year of his contract and has made it clear he won’t be signing an extension, so the boss has made him his key target as he looks to bring in a replacement for Lukasz Fabianski.

Arsenal chiefs are also deep in negotiations with Atletico Madrid to secure a year-long loan deal for defender Manquillo. The 20-year-old is highly thought of in Spain and Goal claim we’re close to securing a loan that could be made permanent next summer.

Manquillo is expected to come in as back-up for Mathieu Debuchy with the French international’s transfer expected to be formally announced at some point today.

The 29-year-old has already agreed personal terms, passed his medical and posed for photos LAST WEEK, but we had to wait for Newcastle to find a suitable replacement. But with Daryl Janmaat moving to St James’ Park on Tuesday we are now clear to formalise the £8m purchase of Debuchy.

The additions of Debuchy and Ospina look like good pieces of business by the club and fill two problem areas with experienced international’s, but without breaking the bank. Manquillo is obviously one for the future but his arrival is likely to see Carl Jenkinson head out on loan.

Podolski shouts ‘Arsenal’ when Khedira’s asked where he’ll be playing next year

Once these deals are wrapped up Arsene is then expected to focus on bringing in a defensive midfielder with Sami Khedira looking like the key target right now. If we could get the German in as well we’d have an excellent squad heading into next season. Check out the link above, it seems ‘agent Poldi’ is doing his best to ensure it happens….

In my humble opinion we, Arsenal, could have done far better than Debuchy. At nearly 29 his shelf-life is rather limited and the number of fouls he gives away is another concern.
After watching Giroud carefully during the world cup games for France, I am very concerned regarding our striker situation. Whilst Sanchez is a marvelous signing, we will most definitely need more top class contenders. Giroud just has not got what it takes and he appears to be another Bendtner type signing for Arsenal.

Haha giroud like a bendtner signing? Well for one when we signed bendtner he was 16 years old giroud was 25. Giroud has scored 64 goals and made 30+ assists, in the last 3 seasons, bendtner has scored 3 goals with 1 assist.
When giroud has pace around him he is awesome. All we need to do is keep the likes of Walcott sanchez ozil chamberlain, cazorla, campbell, gnabry, ryo, Ramsey and rosicky fit! We also need to use him more sparingly rather than flogging him to death.

We didn’t buy bendtner @ d age of 16years but he joined arsenal accademy @ d age of 9years and to me he mighty have been flupping in the past season but wen giving the opprtunity now is ready to deliver perfectly than Giroud and likewise i want Wenger to give Sanogo more playing time to get mature and be self compose in front of goal

Please Giroud should not be compared to Bendtner. Debuchy can play actively for the next two, three years and Carl Jenkinson would be up for the massive task.We would have kept faith with Sagna at his age if he had decided to stay. Debuchy managed to keep Sagna on the Bench at the national team.Though Debuchy is not error free he is a better option, given the players available on the market for his role.
Sanchez can play as a typical striker and this will bring the best in Giroud even if we don’t sign another striker. The likes of Campbell and are good squad members to give us depth, not forgetting that both Podolski and Walcott can effectively play in that role. This not withstanding, Giroud himself is a good player who can be very efficient on the pitch if he is not overburdened with the number of games he plays.
      #goonerfamily.Together we make a great club. #Arsenalforlife.

According to Eurobot: the situation at the minute is that reports in Spain – specifically from Marca – suggest that Khedira has dropped his wage demands and has agreed to join Arsenal. The Gunners and Real have also reportedly agreed on a fee. We should have all of the ins-and-outs in Euro Papers shortly…
