Wenger ‘Confirms Interest In Vidal’ Amid £44m Bid Reports

By on June 27, 2014

Arsenal woke this morning to news of a potential £44m bid for Arturo Vidal and Arsene Wenger has now admitted he’s a huge fan of the Juventus midfielder.

Vidal is arguably one of the best midfielders in Europe and has drawn admirers for his all-action displays at the heart of Juve’s engine room over the past three seasons.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with the 27-year-old in recent windows but reports in the mornings press claimed that Arsenal were ready to compete for his signature by submitting a mammoth £44m bid.

Most fans laughed it off as nothing more than paper-talk, but Arsene Wenger has now added fuel to the fire by admitted he is a huge admirer of the Chilean international’s, saying he has ‘everything’.

‘Vidal is one of the best midfielders in the world,’ he said.

‘He has everything. Incredible stamina, perfect timing. He’s a marathon athlete who plays football.’ Arsene is quoted as telling the Metro.

Needless to say, Vidal would be a sensational signing if we were somehow able to pull it off. Juventus are under no pressure to sell so it’s not going to be easy, but I’m sure if we did table a £44m bid they would give it some serious thought.

However, I’m not convinced how much truth there is in it all. Can you really see Arsene spending that kind of money on a 27-year-old central midfielder? We do need to sign a powerful ball-winner to play alongside the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey, but Vidal is hardly an orthodox defensive midfielder.

He’s scored 28 goals in 95 games for Juventus, which tells you he’s far more attacking and is a box-to-box player who won’t just sit and protect the defence like we need.

I’m sure we could convert him to be a defensive midfielder but that would take away a huge part of his game, so as much as I’d love to see him come to the club, I just don’t see it happening for several reasons.

I don’t think this news is real. Wenger spending 44million pound on him? na!!! I wonder why the media keep recommending players for arsenal, I believe we have a scout team to do that.

The bottom line is that Manchester United,Chelsea,Liverpool, and Manchester City have all signed two players each.In every case these players will undoubtedly improve their respective teams and strengthen their squads.Arsenal meanwhile have lost their right back and not signed anyone.Yes they’ve been linked with all and sundry and we take that with pinch of salt. The man who always seems to have the final say, meanwhile,is busy earning even more money over and above his £8M a year salary-how greedy can you be!!I’m sure some will say that it allows him to get a better persective of potential targets.I would suggest that it restricts Arsenal’s ability to get business done early when previous Seasons suggest that this should be a priority.Finishing forth means that Arsenal’s season has to start at a pace…and if they are to hit the ground running it’s important that any new players are introduced sooner rather than later.I can only presume that Arsenal’s targets are still playing in the World Cup…but some how I doubt it…Ay team success will undoubtedly lead to inflated fees and the Arsenal Manager (whilst happy to inflate any “sale”) will not pay market prices for any potential purchase -possibly with the one and only exception of Ozil!!It will be an interesting month or so..looking on and watching matters develop. With the success of Joel Campbell I don’t see any high profile forward coming to Arsenal..Loic Remy is available for a reported £8m and I believe that he will be seen as a value for money option!!Meanwhile we have no first string right back;eight years and counting as we still await a defensive central midfielder worthy of the title;no sign of a noteworthy goalkeeper capable of competing with “Chesney”;and an alarming lack of bac-up in central defence given the fact that Vermaelen will undoubtedly push to leave!!…Same old…same old…But hey Diaby will be like a new signing and Sanogo will most definitely improve…NO THEY WON’T!!
