Going Nowhere! Boss Insists Striker Won’t Be Sold To Arsenal

By on June 26, 2014

Arsenal have received a transfer blow with AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani insisting that Arsenal target Mario Balotelli will not be sold this summer.

Balotelli has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks with reports even suggesting boss Arsene Wenger had held talks with the strikers agent in Brazil after apparently making him his prime striker target this summer.

Arsene has since played down those rumours but the papers have continued to link us with the 23-year-old, insisting we are keen to bring him to north London to offer competition for Olivier Giroud next season.

However, it appears any potential move is off the table as AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani has claimed Balotelli will not be sold this summer and jumped to the strikers defence after fierce criticism following Italy’s exit from the World Cup.

Responding to the Arsenal move rumours, Galliani said:

“Balotelli will remain at Milan,”

“I don’t like that it seems as though the national team lost due to Balotelli. Italy lost for other reasons,” he said.

“Balotelli has been the only striker who scored, others didn’t have a shot on target.

“It’s not understood why people only talk about Balotelli, when the national team had a coach, technical staff and 22 other players.

“Let’s talk about the group. Now it seems the disappointment has been Balotelli. I don’t understand this and I prefer avoiding other comments.” [source: TeamTalk]

Obviously things can change quickly in football and I’m sure AC Milan would consider any serious offer for the striker, but as of now it appears they want to keep hold of him.

I can’t say I’d be too disappointed if we didn’t sign Balotelli. As talented as he is, he’s also unpredictable and can be a liability at times, and such players usually end up causing more harm than good at your club.

I reckon Arsene is telling the truth on this one he’s not interested. IMO bringing in Balotelli would be a nightmare, and for what, he’s hardly covered himself in glory at the World cup his team mates don’t want him the Manager says he’s lazy, hardly ringing endorsements.
