Wenger Not Impressed When Asked By Journalists About Fabregas Move

By on June 13, 2014

As the fall-out from Cesc Fabregas’s stomach-churning move to Chelsea continues, many Arsenal fans are keen to hear what boss Arsene Wenger has to say on the subject.

Most importantly, we’d like to know why he rejected the chance to re-sign our former skipper and who he has lined-up in the transfer market this summer.

Let’s face it, Arsene was under immense pressure to spend big BEFORE he turned down Cesc, so fans are even more expectant now and he’s going to have to bring in some marquee names to appease supporters who are disillusioned by the fact we’ve let one of the best creative midfielders in Europe join our rivals.

Wenger is currently out in Brazil working for French TV – and hopefully scouting some players. A couple of journalists bumped into him yesterday and bravely decided to question him about Fabregas’s move to Chelsea and it’s safe to say it didn’t go down too well.

Mark Bisson – who works for World Football Insider – saw Arsene outside the Sao Paulo stadium before last nights World Cup opener and eased himself in by asking about who the boss thought would win. The reply was short but when asked for his thoughts on Cesc, Arsene became ‘visibly irritated’ and simply said “please leave me alone”.

Next to bump into Arsene was the Mirror’s Oliver Holt and he too asked the boss about Fabregas joining Chelsea, to which Arsene said he had ‘nothing to say’ with the ‘wave of a hand’.

Arsene can be temperamental at times but he usually always has time for the media, so it’s interesting to see him flustered about this whole Cesc situation. He must have known there would be huge interest in why we rejected him so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise when he was asked about it. In fact, it’s only going to get worse over the coming days and weeks and in the end, Arsene is going to have to explain himself.

I think most of us know the reason; we simply didn’t need Cesc and Arsene wants to strengthen other areas of the squad, but we need to hear it from his mouth and he needs to reassure fans that a plan is in place to sign some world class talent this summer.

It will be a sacrilege to see fabregas play in a Chelsea shirt money should not have been an issue he should just have been brought back to arsenal didn’t matter how many midfielders we had let’s hope you don’t get a lot of injuries like last year mr winger don’t matter who you bring in the fans won’t forgive you when he wanted to come back and thought he would be back but he will always be a gunner it’s in his blood

doesnt matter how many midfielders you have? what kind of stupid remark is that
ozil, wilshere, rosicky, cazorla, podolski, walcott, chamberlain, gnabry, zelelem, arteta flamini, diaby,
we need 30m spent elsewhere, not on another midfielder with no pace

Of course it matters how many midfielders you have, there are squad limits. As it stands we have 11 homegrown and 11 non homegrown players in our 25 man squad. That includes only 2 keepers, 1 right back and 1 centre forward. That is why at this moment in time they are Wengers priorities

Why do you think Wenger will address priorities any more than he did in January?

Cesc went to CFC because Wenger has lost his way. City have proved that you cannot have too many WC players, but then again they have the ambition to win the PL, Arsenal seem content with simply chasing CL football. It was great to win the FA Cup last season, but that shouldn’t disguise the fall from 1st to 4th.

mate! cesc went to cfc because cesc lost his way……..3 years ago. now he aint the same player and thats why barca dont want him and why arsene doesn’t want him.

anyway, where’s your pride fella. why take back some cnut who shat on us when he was supposed to be our captain and leader. well as far as i’m concerned, good riddence and to the othe two member$ of the dirty trio!

good luck to chelski with him . how short is your memory .he walked out on us while he was our club captain ,thats how loyal he is . now his boyhood team no longer think he is up to it anymore ,but that makes you think hes a suitable candidate for our team . we dont need rejects ,we need young talented fast players who want to make a future for themseves at arsenal .

Ridiculous! Forcing your way out to find the grass isn’t greener then crying to come back! I will be as gutted as anyone to see Fab Fab in a chelsea shirt but we already have 5 top class players competing for that spot, what a waste of 27mill that would have been, and no doubt you would have been first in line to call wenger out when we start the season with a weakened front line!

There is a good argument for saying that no it doesnt matter how many midfielders we have. Just sell one to make room for Cesc. He was more consistent for us than anyone in our current squad.

Stop being ungrateful. Our current squad is the best in nine years because they won a trophy after a period of nine years. They also were top of Premier League for 128 days and if it was not for injuries we would have won the EPL. If Fabregas was more consistent than our current squad what did he win for us? People should be judged by what they achieve not sentimental reasons.I can’t be impressed by Fabregas praises when there is nothing to show for his spell at Arsenal. If we talk of Cazorla, Ramsey, Ozil and the other current players we shall always remember that they broke the jinx of trophy drought for nine years and for Fabregas? In all honesty Fabregas, Van Persie and co. came when we were winning trophies for fun and left when trophy drought had become the order of the day! How then can you eulogise Fabregas? Theirs was a lost generation at Arsenal while the current one is a rejuvenated Arsenal.

silentstan is right, you can,t be buying just for the sake of it,what do you want? a squad of 23 players with 10 midfielders??by the way people tend to forget the way he left us and more so the timing of it,i dont understand why the guy doesn,t get the same stick as nasri, van persie….?fans who know the game&our team know that our priorities are to buy a class powerful defensive midfield, right back, stricker,gk and may be another left winger with loads of pace&trickery unless im wrong which i could be!!

He doesn’t get the same stick because he didn’t leave for a rival. While football players don’t seem to understand how significant this is, football fans do. This is probably because most player’s loyalty is towards their accountant, whilst fan’s loyalty is for their club. Even now I don’t think he will get as much stick, as Arsenal was his preferred destination, fans will however blame Wenger unless he pulls a rabbit out of the hat in the transfer market.

Cesc is alot better than most of the midfielders we already have. Why not sell or loan out 2 or 3 to make room for Cesc? Wanna win the league with crop of average players in our squad? Well lets wait and see! Hope we wont regret not signing Cesc next season!

because his past his best .. so you would loan out good loyal hard working players who have stood by the team to take back a disloyal slow mid field player we dont need .. arsene was right to leave well alone /and we made money on the deal as well .

mate! that was three years ago. its obvious he’s not the same player now and thats why barca don’t want him and why he was freequently booed by their fans. this is why he wanted to come backk and not because he loves arsenal.

if he really loved arsenal, he’d never have tried so hard for 3 seasons to leave and even give up his £5m loyalty bonus to subsidise the move.

i get it. he was the nuts when he was here but once he left, especially the way he did, gooners need to get over it, move on and stop mugging themselves off by pining after some cnut who’s been gone for three years.

as for those who think we have an average squad, if it wasn’t for injuries at a crucial time, we might have won the league. bottom line is that we are clearly moving forward (without the band of three by the way). lets focus on that and hope the club continues to add world class talent IN THE AREAS WE NEED THEM

What nobody seems to be asking in the face of all our angst over Ceski is why Mourinho should want him, when he’s just got rid rid of Mata, who is a very similar player in my opinion. I can’t believe it’s just because he’s made 10 million on the deal and irritated a lot of Arsenal fans in the process. Which also begs the question if AW is such an accountant, why didn’t he buy someone who was 10 million undervalued?
