Arsenal Make Shock Move For Ashley Cole – Report

By on May 21, 2014

Could Ashley Cole be set for a shock move back to Arsenal? Well, according to the Express newspaper, we’re interesting in re-signing the left-back after he confirmed he’s leaving Chelsea this summer.

Cole’s contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire and it looks like he won’t be signing an extension after he Tweeted on Tuesday that he is ready to find a new club.

It’s understood as many as eight top class teams have already been in touch with the 33-year-old, with Liverpool, Monaco, Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG and two clubs from the MLS all believed to be in the running.

However, sensationally, the Express claims that Arsenal have also thrown their hat into the ring and have offered Cole a shock return to north London.

I know they call the summer transfer window ‘silly season’ but this is something else. I would literally eat my hat if Ashley Cole re-signed for Arsenal FC.

It’s beyond ridiculous. The player is hated by the majority of Arsenal fans and has been on the wrong side of rough treatment ever since his controversial exit in 2006.

To be fair, the Express don’t claim Cole is close to agreeing a move or anything like that, but to even suggest we’ve made an enquiry is unbelievable.

We already have two very capable left-backs in Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal, therefore it’s one position we don’t need to strengthen this summer, so I don’t believe for one second Arsene Wenger is interested in bringing Cole back to the club.

He’d do a job for someone like Liverpool for a season before possibly ending his career in the US, but a move back to Arsenal? Not. A. Chance.

Most Arsenal fans will disagree but I’d love him. He’s a winner and should never have been allowed to leave. Chelsea have won loads with him as where we’ve won….. probably the wrong year to make hat comment but you see my point

Monreal is not a capable fullback and at 10 mil he was overpriced and always exposed in big games as other teams know he is a weak link when called into the team.

Why is it unbelievable that we might move for him? He is a class defender, we have issues against the top teams down that flank, plus he would help develop Gibbs into being an actual defender. I think it is an absolute no brainer and after just a few decent performances, fickle football fans would get over the past. Would be an excellent signing.

yes I would have him back, even though he is a cnut for leaving, but he done no worse than sagna is doing now, yet everyone is lapping him up. sagna turned down £80k a pay rise of 25% cole turned down £55k a pay rise of 20%

cole is free and still loved at arsenal, he even went to the arsenal players xmas party, why was that?

here is some more freebies I would consider valdes, barry, eto and lescott

but we must only go for freebies after we have spent our £100m on the players we really. aurier, kouyate, fabregas, vela and cavani.

if then we can bring in those freebies and they are an improvement on other players then yes. for example valdes is better than Damien Martinez, Ashley cole is better than monreal

Bringing back Cole and Fabregas?? We’re bringing the band back together.

I’d be Ok with it if we move Monreal.

Ashley Cole will always be a Gunner.

Arsenal have two left backs, I do not see Arsene Wenger buying Ashley Cole, the way he left Arsenal was not all that good, so there is no need for him to come back to Arsenal. We have very good two left backs who are still young and they can improve as well. Whoever talk of Ashley Cole is not saying the truth.
