‘Infuriated’ Arsenal Ace ‘Tells Friends’ He’s Leaving This Summer

By on April 28, 2014

Bacary Sagna is set to leave Arsenal this summer after telling friends he won’t be signing a new contract at the Emirates, according to newspaper reports.

Sagna’s current deal runs out in June and despite holding several rounds of talks with his representatives, we’ve been unable to reach an agreement over an extension.

So far we’ve offered a two-year deal with a slight increase on his £60,000-a-week wage, but the 31-year-old is understood to be holding out for a three-year deal worth nearer £100,000-a-week.

Arsene Wenger confirmed on Friday that we’ve made our final offer and are waiting for Sagna’s people to get back to us, but the Daily Mail claim the Frenchman has already made up his mind after supposedly telling friends he won’t be signing a new deal, and will therefore be leaving this summer.

The right-back is believed to be ‘infuriated’ that his loyalty hasn’t been sufficiently rewarded by the club as he’s turned down several lucrative moves away in recent years.

Despite now being the wrong side of 30, Sagna isn’t short of offers with the likes of Galatasaray, Inter Milan, Monaco, PSG and Fenerbache all ready to offer him big-money deals at the end of the season.

I’m not too sure how the Daily Mail have found out exactly what Sagna has told his close friends, so I’d take that with a pinch of salt, but the closer it gets to the summer the more it looks like he’s leaving.

If he does end up going Arsene is going to have a huge void to fill in defence. Southampton’s Calum Chambers and Everton’s Seamus Coleman have both been linked in recent months. Coleman would be the clear choice but will likely cost in excess of £20m, whereas Chambers would be cheaper but is far less experienced and would therefore be more of a risk.

I could care less, he isn’t worth the money being bandied about and is too often caught out of position against decent teams for my liking.

Totally agree Harry, not fussed, sure we’ll find a replacement.

Sad, if true, but 3 years at £100K is ridiculous. His agent should have gotten him a better deal last time around, or signed an extension 18 months ago, when better terms might have been offered.
He would need replacing before the end of his contract. £100k a week is obscene for a player of his ability and age.

I dont think sagna has deserved that much money. He is too naive and pretends he is winger rather than a defender. He positioning is awful at times and as a result has cost u dearly. We spend most of our time criticising giroud arteta and szczesny for our heavy defeats against liverpool and chelsea little realising that our full backs were reaponsible for 8 of the 11 goals we conceded in those two matches.

ohhh, it must be that you believe in this day and age of professional football players get to choose what they want to do on the pitch, instead of listening to the coaching staff and manager. It is the full back’s choice, to just hammer on forward and not see out their defensive duties.. and that if this is true, they’re just able to get away with it week in week out. It doesn’t take an open nor imaginative mind to realize this, it’s obvious. Sagna does what he’s asked to do, and he does it bloody well. He’s obedient, loyal and extremely talented. For you or anyoneto believe otherwise is the only naivety. This guy deserves better from you as fans or enthusiasts. He’s not worth 100k a week for 3 years because next year he is 31, however.. whatever Arsenal can do to keep him, I most certainly believe they will do so. COYG!!

Hardheaded Asshole Wenger! He could have the best right back in the league – Sagna – for the next 3 years costing him an extra $30,000.00 pm making a total of 36 x E30,000 = E1,080,000.00 – over 3 years.
But not His senile mind thinks it is cheaper to spend E20,000,000.00 for a new guy – not half as good and pay the guy E80,000.00 pm… Do the maths and calculate the millions of losses to Arsenal – see the absolute stupidity of the man’s reasoning – for Piet sake can’t the board see he is past it? Fire the stupid idiot!!!!!

Am confused here, the guy is good for his loyalty but not that better anymore on the pitch to deserve that hefty salary. Anything the board decides here is ok by me. But I will like him to go now that he can get big money cos age is not on his side. Always love to see him successful anywhere he goes cos he’s the real mr Arsenal, Nasry,Vanpersie.

Wenger should leave @ the end of the season so, Arsenal can get a modern coach who will make use of the resources people think they aren’t word class. How many players does ATM buys, but SImone is able to transform them to title contenders home and abroad.

It’s stupid that Arsenal will ever contemplate Sagna leaving. He is devoted and has done very well season after season. Sign him up and offer close to N100,000 wage demand
