Arsenal Make Offer For Croatian Striker – Reports

By on April 25, 2014

Reports in Spain this evening are claiming that Arsenal have made an offer for Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months, with several newspaper suggesting he is high on Arsene Wenger’s summer hit-list as he looks to bring in another striker to compete with Olivier Giroud.

Earlier this week the Mirror reported that Mandzukic was in fact Arsene’s top target and the boss would use a proportion of his supposed £70m transfer kitty on the Croatian hitman.

Well it seems we could have made our move early with Spanish outlet Fichajes.net reporting that we’ve now made an offer for the striker – although they fail to provide any further details such as how much the bid was for.

The report does state that we are not the only club in the running, but Mandzukic is believed to be contemplating his future as he knows he’ll fall down the pecking order when Robert Lewandowski arrives at the Allianz Arena in the summer.

It’s difficult to know how much truth there is in this but the momentum is gathering the closer we get to the summer and it looks like Mandzukic will be a striker constantly linked with a move to North London over the coming weeks and months.

He wouldn’t be my first choice target, as I think we desperately need someone who offers something different, such as raw pace, and Mandzukic is a little too similar to Giroud for my liking.

However, he’d certainly be a useful addition if he does end up joining the club as he’s got great pedigree and a decent goal-scoring record to boot, with 48 goals in 86 games for Bayern over the last two seasons.

What do you think of the links with Mandzukic? Would he be a good signing?

I prefer Benzema . He will provide competition for Giroud not only at club but also at national level. His price tag will be the same as Mandzukic . No offence to Mandzukic but I think Benzema is the better option .

As long as he is not the only forward signing I don’t mind. But basically we need to replace bendtner and park, whilst sanogo and ryo are still not ready. Hopefully, campbell will come in, mandzukic I am fine with, but we also need another one at least. Draxler, griezmann or remy. Sanogo and Ryo can then get some goals out on loan.

In principle addition is good but the best addition like morata, Costa and balotelli is more attractive than Mandukic.

It’s true e is too similar to Giroud. He is only a slight upgrade as well. If Cavani is available we should go for him. Personally I would love Arsene to get Balotelli. He has improved leaps and bounds at Milan and would be a great fit. He’s strong, fast and technically skilled. He is also one of the bet free kick and panalty takers in the world. Arsenal have have no goals from free kicks! Makes sense. Team him up with özil, griezmann and Walcott. Get Morata to replace. Be enter who is also brilliant, but just needs more playing time. Wenger should then play with two strikers more often. Özil needs faster and more quality players around him and then he will flourish. Sadly I don’t think Hiroud can cut it, although he has had a good campaign. And perhaps Schneiderlin or Lars Bender in. Midfield? Plus Calum chambers to replace Sagna. Airier is also an option since he can score and also place as a center back. We will see if Arsene wants to spend…

Last season it was the same, linking all the top strikers but Wenger didn’t signed any,so pls Wenger it will be better if you leave the club at the end, we can someone like Martinez to take over at arsenal. Time to go Wenger.

YEAH TRUE MARIO IS A BIT TOO SIMILAR TO OLIVIER.THEY ALL LIKE TO USE THEIR UPPER BODY TO SCORE.I WOULD RATHER TAKE BENZEMA OR CAVANI THAN MANDZUKIC
