Wenger Confirms HUGE Injury Boost Ahead Of Hull Game

By on April 16, 2014

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed a major injury boost with the news that Mesut Ozil is in line to return to the squad this weekend.

The German playmaker has missed the last five weeks after suffering a hamstring strain against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last month.

However, the 25-year-old is back in training and speaking after last night’s 3-1 win over West Ham, Arsene told Arsenal.com that Ozil is expected to be back in the squad for Sunday’s trip to the KC Stadium to face Hull City.

The boss also gave the latest on Abou Diaby’s recovery from a serious knee injury and the Frenchman is due to resume full training tomorrow, but it’s not yet clear whether he’ll be able to play for the first team again this season.

on Mesut Ozil…

Ozil should be available for the weekend.

on Abou Diaby…

Abou is back in full training on Thursday. It’s very difficult to say [if he will play this season] because he has not played for over a year now, and it’s very difficult for me [to decide]. He looks physically fine, but he has to play one or two games before I consider bringing him back.

Ozil’s absence has coincided with a dramatic loss of form for Arsenal that’s seen us go from possible title challengers to battling for fourth place, so it will be a HUGE boost to have him available again.

I would love to see Diaby make an appearance before the end of the season but after such a long time out, he’s going to take a while to get back up to speed so it would make sense for him to have a few games with the U-21’s before he’s considered for the first team.

It’s just sad that we’re getting the injury boost right at the end of the season. We should show the doubters that we have great players. Well done guys keep the flag up we have to qualify for CL.

What Really Painful To Me And Many Gooners Fan Is The Inability To Reinforce Our Squad In January Window, Infact We Have 90percent Chance To Win The League In January, But Wenger Is The Causes Of This Failure To Win It, Even Its Better We Finish Third Or Second, Am Not In Support Of Top 4 Fnish Every Year, Let The Board Go Back To Their Drawing Board And Do Something Better, And We Need Game Plan, We Need Plan B,cos Its Why We Cant Beat Any Top 4team, Let Introduce Plan B To Our Squad So That We Can Win Big Games, And I Advise Thqt The Manager Should Focus On Two Legged Player And Who Can Run, Unlike Giroud, He Can Not Run Or Challenge Defence To Win Ball.

Daniel, surely you understand that very few top class players become available in January !! What do you then do to those second rate signings who are stuck on the payroll for years e.g Bendtner, Scillacci, Set your sights in a different direction. Arsene Wenger is one of the best coaches/managers in the world. Fortunately the vast majority recognise this and support the club, manager and players through thick and thin. That s a supporter.

Thank you John Gee for saying that. How refreshing it feels to hear a fellow gooner talk sense even the chips are down (even thought we can win the fa cup!! Not so bad really…). In Arsene we trust

Guys lets not forget how well the team played till turn of the year. I trust in Wenger and i know he has a genuine desire to see us succeed. Above all do you honestly believe a player of Suarez calibre is available in January? Would you tell who would get injured? Support the team lets win the FA cup and the rest will follow

so glad i have gunners that reason my way, not those wenger out ppl!! It’s obvious we where doing well before jenuary and also need a striker, but who is that striker that’s better than what we have that was available in the market? I strongly believe in this squad! I think injury played a vital role in our failure to win the league. If we win the FaCup and make the top 4, i think this season will be the best for close to a decade now. Still think Wenger remains the best among all to take us forward. In Arsene we trust.

Couldn’t agree more with fellow gooners. Now looking forward to the 3rd champions league spot. We Don’t want to loose Arsene to Barcelona, that is the last thing we need.

    WENGER OUT!!!

Haha chill chill i’m just kidding. To be honest i am somewhat on the fence about wenger. I think he is Arsenal’s greatest strength but also it’s weakness. Now i am not sure which aspect has been the most pivotal.

I think in the past few years wenger has produced magic. Arsenal so often has bested teams the bookies would have had us lose to. But at the same time i do question some of his methods

I question his team building ability in recent times: our squad is too small(physically and mentally) we need leaders on the squad. I feel far too often he has just picked up a player because he was available and not necessarily for team needed specifics. Most recent example ozil( now again don’t get me wrong i’m glad we have him, i think the attacks at him are silly but i think we had other needs such as a solid dmf eg Matic, i despise how easily the attack of other opponents have just cruised through to our goal. A supplemental striker eg Higuain( yes i’m aware giroud had a great preseaon, however a good manager can notice a problem before it gets exposed and giroud’s weakness have been obvious.

Wenger tactics? i thought it was a rumor that wenger didn’t train specifically for the team they want to play . rather he sort to express arsenal’s game on the opponent. This is a good strategy to begin with but it is naive if there is no plan b. on certain days things just will not work for you and you need to carefully study the opponent to see their weakness. likewise it’s 2014 an opposing team can calculate the amount of times arsene blinks if they wanted to and you can bet that they know exactly arsenal’s weakness. if i here on my couch can identify arsenal’s weakness you can guess that a whole team of analysist can do better.

Arsene has never really know how to make in game decisions i feel. Some managers know how to change a game with one or two subs but this rarely happens with us. now there are obviously other thing involved here but it’s worth nothing. eg our season went bottoms up at stoke(imo) yet i think it was obvious that game needed an ox but it just never happened. likewise in the recent game against everton 2 goals down, it was obvious changes needed to be made, i remember screaming at my tv like a madman( wenger you need to change the squad, the team isn’t just going to start working out, you need to do that) for some reason he decided to wait untill the 65th minute like it was some magical number but by then we were 3 down. unless i imagined it, i think we looked better after he made those two subs, unfortunately it was late.

arsene’s method might be to blame for our injuries: season after season we seem to win the injury room trophy. why is this? are arsenal players weaker than the average player? i don’t think so/maybe. wenger can be blamed for a lot of the injuries. when a player come back from injury you need to gently usher him into the squad, theo came back and was playing too many minutes. there are many more ozil, but i think the most obvious has to be ramsey. who didn’t see his injury coming. the man was playing 90mins, 90mins, 90mins. it was crazy( actually brings up another point which is wenger’s over reliance on certain players). Anyhow it was obvious ramsey was fatiguing but to make matters worse there were a couple of times he went down on a challenge. each time he would reach for the same area. there was one game he actually had to be subbed because we thought he was injured. he came back the next game and played 90mins so suprised suprised when he gets injured. i hope i don’t have to explain ozil..
Also i got a bit annoyed when wenger was asked about injuries and he mentioned some of the supplements the players took. i mean are you kidding me, yeah sure it might have an impact but does he think only arsenal players take supplements really..

So again i’m on the fence about wenger. i chose to mention the negatives because unless these things get resolved arsenal will not progress as a team.

Criticism of my long ass comment is welcome but don’t waste time on attacking grammar or that sorts. I’m not submitting a formal paper, if that is what you want go read a journal

still banging this myopic old drum justin…could any of the managers you mentioned compete in the top four on a shoe string budget..we are the 17th highest spenders in the prem over the last 8 yrs..every other manager spending as little as us..got relegated. and you want us winning championships and trophies lmfao. finally turned the corned..give the man time to spend the money he has earned the club with his work over the last 8yrs. Do arsenal have the thickest fans in the country en masse ??

Apart from the usual insults your reply is nonsense. Have you ever seen Arsenal’s wage bill. Wenger spends vast sums every year, he just chooses not to spend on transfers (probably because he is not very good at it ).

Wenger competes each year against middle ranking teams like Spurs and Everton because that is the limit of his ability and he comfortably out-spends those clubs.

And the Emirates has made us money from day one, so don’t start another lie !

Yawn, well said! I completely agree with your comments, I also agree unfortunately, we do have some very thick fans. For the record a brief history lesson for the idiots who are so called supporters.
The 9 years without a trophy was started by the media who hate Arsenal. When Arsenal won the European Fairs Cup in 1970 this was our first trophy in 17 years. Until Man United recent great run under Alex Ferguson they had not won the league for 26 years, and were also relegated during this period. Chelsea and Man City until they were taken over by billionaires had not won the league for over 40 years. Liverpool who previously had a fantastic record, have not won the league for 24 years, however they have won the European cup during this time. Consider poor Tottenham they have not won the league for 53 years and counting !!
When Arsenal win the league, the real supporters, not the plastics, will have the additional satisfaction, we won it and did not buy it. Also we have the best stadium and facilities, supporters support their team win or lose, look at West Ham, Newcastle, Palace, Sunderland great supported teams, who will not expect to win the league for some time. I wish the plastics would follow another club, we don’t need their negative attitude. COYG.

I do appreciate these comments expecialy Jun-z and agreed with him totally. Wenger subs are sometimes not well timed, he also over believe in average players like Giroud while Podolski should also be given more chance. We need a complete striker to be supported by Cambel nxt season with dm. Wenger is too rigid in some decisions with harsh policies. I know that we are having FA this season plus top four finish as usual. Proudly Gooner.

We have been here before with Mr Diaby. He does not seem able to stay fit long enough to play any competitive games. It is time arsenal cut their losses and signed a replacement. The lack of a good, big defensive midfielder has cost arsenal dear over the last few seasons. Mr Wenger must be sorry he missed out on Ya Ya Toure.

We are all not happy about our team’s performance in the last quarter of the season . Yes a lot of things have happened during this period of high expectation . I think its time enough we gather ourselves together as one and fight for what is expected of the remain few days of the season ; win the FA and qualify for champions league . We should remember after every season there is stock-take and we wll be able to check-out these game of Blame . But rather lets help Wenger to build a solid squad for next season capable of challenging trophies especially the title and champions league . Wenger must be ready to listen to the voice of the people and just try and do what is xpected . But for all , I fear one thing : loosing our players . There re rumours that the likes of Koscielny , Podolski , Giroud , Fabianski are all on the exit door . Pls I urge you Gooners lets stand as one to deny any player leaving the team cos we re on a rebuilding and strengthening exercise to march our ambitions for next year . What do these guys require for them to stay ? Fabianski – more game time and seriousness over his being considered , Koscielny – money and trophies ? Podolsky – same as Fabiansky , Giroud can stll play a pivotal role at the attack . Pls Gooners lets drop tempers and re-engage our strengths and strategies for a better tommorow . Lets dialogue , contact and talk to one another on issues concerning the smooth go and progress of our beloved team . Soon we would be having a forum for frank talk of success but for for now lets shun blame and please fight to keep our assets ( players ) for the rainy day is just around the corner .
