Wenger’s A “Specialist In Failure”? Is Your Trophy Gold, Jose?

By on February 14, 2014

Jose Mourinho has hit back at Arsene Wenger and branded the Arsenal boss a “specialist in failure”.

The Portuguese coach was responding to Arsene’s claim that any coach who says their team isn’t in the title race are playing down expectations because of a fear of failure.

When asked why some coaches are ruling themselves out of the title race, Wenger said at his press conference earlier:

“It’s a fear to fail.

“If you’re not in the race you cannot lose it, if you declare yourself not in the race you cannot lose it, simple as that.

“I think just that our job is to be ambitious and to try to win, if we do not win to take full responsibility for that. That’s as simple as that and that’s how I see it.

“I say yes we are in it, yes we will have a go for it, we will absolutely give everything to go for it and if we don’t do it I will take responsibility for it, but I just see it like that.”

The jibe wasn’t directly aimed at Mourinho, but it comes just days after the Blues boss tried to claim that Chelsea weren’t front runners for the title despite beating Manchester City away last week and currently sitting top of the table.

However, in typical arrogant fashion, Mourinho has had to take it to a personal level and told reporters at his own press conference just now:

“The reality is he’s [Wenger] a specialist in failure. Because eight years without a piece of silverware, that is failure.”

“If supposedly I am afraid of failure it is because I don’t fail many times.”

Jose really is a despicable man sometimes. Arsene was pragmatic with his response and although it was indirectly aimed at Mourinho, it was a fair point when you consider how ridiculous the Chelsea boss is being when claiming his side aren’t in the title race. Their top of the league for f*ck sake, of course their in the title race! How stupid does Mourinho think we are?

He’s obviously just playing his childish mind-games but I’ve just watched the Mourinho press conference on video and it’s safe to say Arsene has got under his skin. I’ve not seen him this flustered for a while.

But I think he should have a little more respect for Wenger. Yes, we all know we haven’t won anything for 8 years, believe me, we hear about it enough, but there are some very good reasons for that drought. Put it this way, I’d love to see how Jose would get on if he had to oversee the building of a new stadium and make a PROFIT in every transfer window for six years to pay the debt off. Let’s see how much of a ‘failure’ he would become.

No doubt he’s a top coach and a born winner, but he’s not covered himself in any glory with this pathetic attack on Arsene. A specialist in failure, eh. How about you come back to us when your Premier League trophy is gold Jose, you arrogant pr*ck.

Has Wenger’s stay improved Arsenal’s finances?. We should be broad in our criticism.

As an Arsenal fan I would be so mad by now for what jose morinho said about Arsen Wenger. But it doesn’t matter because it is from One retarded stupid Portuguese. If Wenger had half the mony Morinho has been spending to sign players all those time, jose would be master of faier by now.

Well, Mourinho is right and wrong at the same time. He’s right because Arsenal are not willing to compete for the highest prizes, they would have to invest more money to get the quality players to reach these objectives (CL, EPL). And that’s why he can brand AW a failure. But AW is a master in taking an average team to the maximum of its possibilities to ensure a maximum return on investments (TV rights, CL every year from 13+ years). AFC is a mean of making money for investors, directors, shareholders, AW himself and others. And this is a true success. AFC trophies are amounts of cash paid to these people.
AFC fans forget about seeing your players lifting any football trophy. Keep making these guys happy by forking a lot of money for shirts, season tickets…They are only interested in the money AFC pours in their bank accounts than in you seeing your team finish number 1. You are free to stop accepting this :-).

Dikimbe xenophobia is not the answer. Mourinho is there to win trophies, and he does it very well. Wenger is very successfull at making AFC owners rich (and himself of course)

Mourinho’s logic is to win trophies on the pitch and you can’t say he’s not extremely good at this. He draws attention to him while his teams win, you may not like it but he is a master at that. He didn’t like AW said he feared failure. AW has taken AFC through times where money was scarce. It doesn’t look like this has come to an end, open your eyes.

Mourinho is sick and very arrogant. The way and manner every arrogant people behave. He has spend massively to win trophies.I am very sure he cannot make top four with a Club like Arsenal with very limited resources that Wenger have been accustomed to.
Mourinho is a top coach with massive money to spend on players. Wenger a top coach with limited amount of money to spend on players. That is THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THEM

It’s mentally retarded fellas like Mourinho himself who can support such despicable and mean utterances from him. Mourinho’s failure starts from his failure to be an all-round individual.Perhaps that’s why he never went far in school! Which players has he ever nurtured to achieve success? He only buys success and claims to be a manager of all managers? Which trophy did he win at Madrid last year inspite of the good squad and resources at his disposal? Only people of his ilk can be impressed by him. His inability to stay at a club for more than three seasons is a clear a sign of fear of failure. Why does he keep roaming? I think it’s because of fear of failure. I believe Arsene Wenger would have been labelled the greatest success if he had left Arsenal after the invincibles and gone to a club with a lot of money to buy players and success. He would never have suffered the heartache of building a stadium and running on a shoe string budget and going nearly nine years without a trophy. Only nitwits would call that success but that’s what exactly Mourinho has been doing: run before you are exposed. I wouldn’t call that success. It’s escapism from reality.

Different organisations have different goals and different priorities, they also have limited resources in most cases and must decide how to best run their setup. Arsenal is a club that has risen in profile and achievements since the arrival of Wenger and our stadium the Highbury which could only contain 28000 was too small for the club we have become.

Staying and the Highbury would have impeded our growth anyways and with low income we won’t have been able to compete with the big boys and would not be able to attract the commercial deals big clubs attract. The club under Wenger built a magnificent stadium attracted lucrative commercial deals and is building Avery formidable team, it is difficult to compete against the resources that clubs like City, Chelsea , Man U and even Liverpool have, but we’ve kept at it and with the stadium mostly paid for and new commercial deals signed we are on the rise and the dividends of our long term plans and stability will soon result in Wenger returning to his winning ways. We must commend his patience , dedication and focus on the Arsenal project.

Bayern build a stadium of 700 million during the same time payed it of mantained the team but won at the same time title after title even the cl, so all those arsenal explanations are not valid

Are you sure of your facts? If you are have you forgotten there was a time when Bayern even faded from Europe? Don’t you remember the likes of Schalke 04 winning Bundesliga trophy or you didn’t know that? What of Borussia Dortmund? Save for the last 3 seasons which serious analyst ever talked of Bayern or for that matter any German team as a power in Europe? That’s why I am tempted to think that Villa might not be sure of his facts or he has had a mix up.

Shalom. Every football competition is won by a team. Now the trophy is bought by a team. No body is applauding Arsenal because they want to win it instead of buy it.

I never rated mourinho as a good coach. can anyone name a player that he had nature. I can name plenty of players nature by Arsene, Alex, Guadiola even Moye. I classified mourinho as a football prostitute that can’t stay in one club. that is a sign of failure because, is afraid of failure .
