Wenger ‘In Talks With Agent’ Over €30m Striker Move

By on February 13, 2014

An interesting report is doing the rounds today that claims Arsene Wenger held talks with the agent of Mario Balotelli earlier this week about a potential €30m (£25m) move to Arsenal.

Balotelli is a name that’s been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates over the past few weeks with the striker expected to leave AC Milan at the end of the season after a supposed fall out with the clubs president, while he’s also been subjected to disgusting racial abuse from ‘supporters’ in recent months.

He only moved back to Italy from Manchester City a year ago and has been hugely impressive in a poor AC Milan team, scoring 25 goals in 38 appearances so far.

With Wenger drawing up his list of summer targets and a striker desperately needed, it seems he’s stepped up his interest in Balotelli with the Metro claiming that the boss held talks with the players agent, Mino Riola, on Monday about a potential switch to north London.

The 23-year-old is valued at around €30m (£25m) which should be well within our budget considering the boss is believed to have upward of £70m to spend following the announcement of our new kit deal with PUMA.

There were even reports flying about suggesting that PUMA might be willing to part-fund our move for Balotelli, as he’s also a client of there’s and they are keen for him to join us, but I wouldn’t pay much attention that that as it’s highly unlikely to happen.

So, is Balotelli the answer to our striker need? Yes and no. He’s clearly a huge talent and has all the quality to be a world class forward, but his attitude stinks and he’s always been a problem at whatever club he’s been at. Do we want that type of character in the dressing room?

Arsenal seem to have a great camaraderie among the players at present and we wouldn’t want to disrupt that by adding a fire-cracker like Balotelli in there. So I’d prefer we go after other targets this summer.

What do you think? Would Balotelli be a good signing?

as long as i live, what i knw is that Giroud wil nevr get betr, and he doesnt deserve a start at all..get podosk or sanogo 2 start 2, three games u wil always c them scoring evry game…he keep on misfiring, and when our defender concedes a goal, u start blaming them, yle the problem is giroud..we av almost won 8 games without him scoring, what good is he contributing to the team..you av startd blaming ozil nw.. Let ozil meet a gd striker and yu wl knw hw gd ozil is….giroud is not football player….

thot Wenger knew that already and was going to spend in Jan but alas we are stuck with the guy who misses chance after chance in big games like this. we are slowly loosing ground and the lad can’t score clear chances

Not worth the aggro he will bring. Add to the £25 million and go for someone better.

    If these rumours are true,
Then the really positive thing about this is that
wenger is looking to sign players before the WC starts….. I know, it is hard to belive.

If arsenal got balotelli they would win the leagua when he’s playing well he’s awesome . What lets him down is he can be ass as we’ll .but wenger did buy that twat of a striker at spurs.

Bring Diago coasta he z around 30m. y 2 spend a striker that may not bring changes. We need a striker that can move with the ball, past the difenders and scores it. And for the timebeing use poodliski he anderstands ozil but if grood used we will 4th place.

Arsenal real need a typical and strong man like Balotelli character in the final touch, so I would consider him as a good replacement for in experience man like Giruid.

balloteli is a good striker to me and if he makes it to d emirate i would be happy, and mind you balloteli is not a bad person he has only got a character d@ is admired by all… No single arsenal player has got guts like balloteli and d@ is y da don’t complain much.. With balloteli on our side we would command some respect.
