Report: Arsenal Hold Talks With Agent Of €65m Striker

By on February 7, 2014

Arsenal are understood to be one of three Premier League clubs who are due to hold talks with the agent of unsettled PSG striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports today.

Cavani is believed to already be unhappy in France after being forced to play out-of-position, with Laurent Blanc favouring Zlatan Ibranhimovic in the central striking role, while he’s also said to be disappointed with the standard of football in Ligue 1.

The Daily Mail and Metro are claiming that his agent flew into London yesterday and will hold talks with officials from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd today ahead of a potential summer switch to England. The agent is sounding out the level of interest in the Uruguayan and wants to know how much we’d be prepared to pay in transfer fee, wages, etc.

Presumably the agent has the permission of PSG to be speaking to other clubs, otherwise this would be an illegal approach, which of course would never happen these days (sarcasm).

Cavani was believed to be on our radar when he left Napoli in a €65m (£54m) deal last summer and the papers seem to think PSG would want to get their money back if they sell at the end of the season. Would Wenger pay €65m for Cavani? I doubt it, but you just never know. He surprised us all by paying €50m for Mesut Ozil.

Obviously the 26-year-old would be a sensational signing but there is going to be stiff competition and I’m also not convinced we’d be able to match his wages – which are reportedly in the region of £200,000-a-week.

Arsenal clearly need a world class striker and Cavani would certainly fit the bill, but I’m not getting my hopes up that we’ll see him in the famous Red & White any time soon.

    Rather have Draxler.

Really? Draxler is a central mid naturally forced to play outside and we think we can with time turn him into a RVP. Our mid is incredible crowded and out strikers are made up of Giroud and Bendtner. Striker is what we need most and our weakest area but u would rather have Draxler over one of the best strikers in the world. I’d love to have Draxler don’t get me wrong but what we need is a Striker and besides Zlatan I don’t see anyone who would fit us better than Cavani.

Henry was a winger before he was converted to CF. Petit was a RB before he converted to CM. Flamini was a RB before converting to CDM. The Ox was a winger, now he’s a CM.

        People can player other positions

Two seasons ago Ramsey – Last season the OX entered the fray – this season Gnabry popped up, next season likely Zelalem. The academy machinery” is churning out non-stop worldclass and future worldclass players. yes we need a second striker, id same level as Giroud that’s fine. Else, ask those high-flying ballerinas with exaggerated demands and cocky behaviour to play elsewhere, not Arsenal.

The solution to Arsenal woes lies within : Give players like Zelalem , Ox , Gnabbry more playing time , these ll be more committed , will defend and attack better than spent and overrated stars from Spain , Italy and Germany.

Shalom. Arsenal on the March again. All the star players in Europe will be targets. But Wenger has so much faith on players who do not have capacity to pay back. No eleven champs can loose five to one against Liverpool even without a coach.
