Agent In London For Arsenal Talks As Wenger Closes In On Striker

By on January 20, 2014

The agent of Mirko Vucinic has flown to London today to hold talks with Arsenal over a proposed switch from Juventus, according to reports in Italy.

Vucinic is the latest striker to be linked with a move to the Emirates with reports over the weekend suggesting that we have already held preliminary talks with Juve officials about bringing the player to north London.

Wenger wants the Montenegrin on loan for the rest of the season but the Italians are apparently only willing to sell the 30-year-old on a permanent basis for £10m.

Vucinic is struggling to get regular action at Juventus this season with Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente the preferred partnership up front and managing director Beppe Marotta admitted last night that they would allow him to leave if he wants.

When asked about the future of Vucinic, Marotta said:

“Even here, we have always said, it’s for the players to decide their fate.

“So, if one of them were to come to us and say they want to leave because they have little opportunity, we will try to grant their request, of course, consistent with the requests coming in, because if you do not have the requests, obviously, you can not please them. This applies to all players.”

Gazetto dello Sport are now reporting that the strikers agent Alessandro Lucci has flown to London on Monday to hold talks with Arsenal officials about a move.

With our ‘prime’ targets unavailable this month and Alvaro Morata ruling out a move from Real Madrid, it certainly seems like Vucinic is the most likely to arrive before the end of the month.

Personally, I hope we don’t agree to pay £10m to sign him on a permanent deal as a loan would suit us far better. At 30, Vucinic is coming towards the end of his career and he’s not our first choice target. So hopefully we can persuade Juve to let him leave on loan then we can save our money to after the likes of Costa in the summer.
