Arsenal To Seal €10m Deal ‘Within Hours’ – 5-Year Contract Agreed – Report

By on January 16, 2014

Our pursuit of Auxerre forward Paul-George Ntep took a huge step closer today with a report on Auxerre TV claiming that we are ‘within hours’ of sealing a €10m deal for the young attacker.

Ntep has been a player heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this week after he posted a photo on Instagram of him on the Eurostar en route to London.

Auxerre president Guy Cotret confirmed yesterday that the 21-year-old had been to the capital to hold talks with Arsenal but insisted no deal was in place for him to move to north London.

However, AuxerreTV – the area’s main local television station – are reporting today that Ntep is ‘within hours’ of signing for Arsenal after we supposedly agreed a €10m fee and Auxerre have already lined up Serbian forward Nikola Stojiljkovic as a replacement.

The website also states that Ntep has agreed terms over a five-year contract and opted to join us over Rennes – who had also submitted a bid. There are further rumours circulating that we could loan him straight back to Auxerre, or possibly even to Rennes, for the rest of the season once the deal is complete.

Arsene Wenger has previously admitted he’s an admirer of the French under-21 international’s, and although there is nothing official confirmed by Arsenal yet, it seems a deal could be edging closer.

If we do end up signing Ntep, you’d have to question the wisdom in signing Yaya Sanogo in the summer. Obviously he’s had his injury troubles since he signed, but he’s barley been fit over the past two years so him being on the treatment table shouldn’t have come as a surprise to anyone at the club.

Perhaps we’ve given up on him already, or maybe we’re just strengthening our options up front, but I’ll honestly be a little surprised if we splash around £8m on a relatively unknown Ligue 2 forward when we have the likes of Sanogo and Joel Campbell on the books already.

We have plenty of ‘promising’ youngsters, let’s save our money and put it towards a world class striker/attacker who’s going to bring us the title.

Yep, we should just sign a 30goal a year man instead.

    Seriously?!

If you think it is easy to just go out and sign such a player then of course you don’t understand this deal.

If you realize that a scattergun approach to finding a young striker that will turn into a 30goal a year striker, is about the only chance we have to get one, then you understand the deal perfectly.

IF this report is to be true, Ntep will be either a standby forward ….. as Arsenal will recruit a more lethal forward to ensure they win trophies this season!

Look here TT,just count with me-chammack,bendtner,park,sanogo,joel campbell, giroud, now Ntep. What do you think? They are all just arsenal-like! Lazy,no pace,no dribbles,no shots,no goal sense and infact I wonder why the fuss about giroud. The other time I read someone calling giroud a modern day striker and I wondered if he understood football. You better find a striker that can WIN games for you and stop hiding under the fact that you don’t depend on strikers to score goals. Did giroud assist or score against any of the big teams? Think about it and stop behaving like you can’t judge what’s up for yourselves

How many goals/assists has Suarez against City, Chelsea, Arsenal, ManU? Answer = ZERO.

TT,is giroud just the kind of striker tha will win us a trophy? Just assess things for yourself. If I were in your shoes,I’ll feel ashamed to mention the name suarez. If he didn’t score against big teams,I bet you will lose count of how many games he’s won for liverpool. Giroud is not an ideal striker. None of arsenal’s strikers makes any sense to me and a whole lot of other fans. I’ll drop my number with you so if giroud scores against bayern, you can call me and insult me all you want. The fact is HE CAN’T

I disagree with you. I believe Giroud can score against Bayern (he scored against BVB anyway). But it wouldn’t prove anything. Still doesn’t make him a good striker.

He already did that against Bayern last year you mug.

Also won us the Newcastle game, Tottenham game, and Napoli game with his second goal.

Though you’re not different from one,if I called you a scumberg it wouldn’t add anything to me. Just get down and judge football based on logic and not emotions driven by you leading the table ‘for now’

I just hope one day ozil doesn’t get tired of giving chances out with giroud jumping like a toad over them because he does more of hold up plays than scoring! What a striker!

WOW!some people do not watch matches such as the villa game. Did you see the way Ozil hinted how stupid Giroud is for not delivering a simple pass. Toby is right, , 7u

And did not Ozil fail to find Giroud with an open goal in front of him near the end of the Villa game. Does that make Ozil stupid.

Wenger is a type of old coaches who never listen to public opinion. He would always re iterate his preference for top top quality player. Is yaya sanogo or park, giroud top quality player? He always see top player in his country france. The money is there. Martinez, costa ribeiro and others are there and we need to fortify the team ahead of the february bia-big games that will determine gunners trophy winning. Nobody knows what the coach is doing now. It is obvious that we need a good striker and the time is now wenger dont settle for cheap less quality under aged player. Dont make we, the fans cry again.

Wenger have on many occasions disappointed us, he made us bury our heads in shame. For Christ sake we a natural goal poacher, we dont need the likes of Giroud, Bendtner they are heatbreakers. Am sick and tired of Wenger’s buying policy.

As they say, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince. There are any number of really promising young players who, for one reason or another, don’t work out. I don’t see anything wrong in hedging bets and bringing in a few maybees and hoping there’s a diamond in there. Just don’t hang your hat on any of them because you’re bound to be disappointed most of the time. The key thing is you can sign ten of them for one proven article.

Joe and Elewure, you are the only guys that seem to understand what I’ve been saying. Why does it look as if we’re the only ones really seeing these things? I know wenger is good but his choice of strikers is well below ‘poor’.just imagine how giroud will ever fit into the top teams in the world. For once and always,I’ll ever support pires morgan’s opinion that we can’t win the league unless we get a meaningfull striker. I wonder how giroud, despite his poor poor poor poor performance, still gethers fans accross. He can never do morethan he’s doing

You all supporting Wenger for buying these substandard players and I’ll still include giroud, wenger will leave soon without achieving anything then you’ll see

  15. Jerry

    January 16, 2014 at 8:02 pm

Toby, what ever you say about Wenger buying substandard strikers, you are right. Wenger must ensure he buys the right strikers, who are more experienced and energiticand have eyes for goal.

My wish is to bring a very souding striker like Costa such that he helps the club to lift the trophy this year.surely,we’ve got tired with kids cos they end up becoming expensive mostly to train and prone to injuries.

You lot need to grow up and realise this is not football manager and you can’t just go out and pick up the best players without paying hefty fees.Anyone who really questions wenger’s buys are fool’s.Our manager will only do the best he can for Arsenal and not stupid fans who think you can just make top players come out of thin air.

Giroud may not be world class but he works he socks of for the club and so far has delivered this season.Stop questioning the manager and just get behind this quality side.
    Up the gunners!!!

There’s no better way to show who a stupid person is than to show your picture or your studiously childish write up. Thanks anyway for accepting that Giroud isn’t world class. To add to it, he can’t win us any trophies unless our midfielders keep scoring

toby i have read all your comments going on about Giroud. Why dont you just shout up. You clearly are not an arsenal supporter. It is Giroud who has carried teh team’s forward play to where we are. Why can he not continue till we lift teh trophy.

If you can’t see what giroud brings to the team then your clueless about football.Thierrys or bergkamps don’t just come from no where.

You would of been one of those one’s questioning wenger when we first brought henry.Flop winger they said and look how that turned out.For all the players that haven’t worked out i could more than name the players that Arsene has made into world class. We are not city or the chavs we are the Arsenal.

Stop this ant-Giroud comments. He deserve alittle of a thumb up. You cannot analyse Arsenal roadway to the top of the premier league without mentioning how crucial he has been towards this. Every player has weaknesses amd strengths and Giroud too, but he has managed to use the little he has to help the team reach this far. Giroud holds the ball to allow our mildfielders move forwad for a perfect attack. If you watched our home game against Cardiff. Poldi started but we were loosing alot of touches upfront. we lacked the giroud type of player who could hold the ball, pull the defenders and allow mildfielders to push forwad. I am not in support of buying the likes of Park but what we need is not a replacement for Giroud, no, but someone who can cover enough for him. Having a holding player forwad to allow mildfieder space for attack is our game plan and lets face it. We can not play like Man C or Chelsea with negledo or whosoever. they have their game plan too

My friends Anthonya and Jonathan,I’ll only reply you because you spoke good sense to butress your points. For the rest,I’ll say they are just riden by emotions. Look guys,I’ve not accussed giroud of not giving what he doesnt have. I’m only telling you that he’s typically not the one to move arsenal foward. Much respect to arsene,he’s been poor with strikers recently. If you can’t,I’ll count for you-chammack,bendtner,park,sanogo, anybody please? I’ll excuse giroud and vela. But you all know how even bendtner did what he could some seasons ago when his goals got us into the top 4. Well, sombody said I don’t know football but jonathan has rightly said every team has got game plans. I’ll love to sit with you to see the game against bayern next month and we’ll see where hold up plays will take the team too. Giroud can not give morethan he’s giving and if you’ve not seen that, you’re the one who needs to get back to kindergatin. Someone called giroud a modern day striker and I’ll love that same person to tell me what to refer to suarez, aguero, cavani, messi, falcao, negredo as. Tell me who’s even better between bench warmer(Dzeko) and first teamer (giroud) why don’t people open their eyes? Simply because we’re toping the table, people are blinded. What happens when our mid fielders are off scoring form? Giroud will still be holding up play for defenders or golkeeper?

If Giroud is a striker? In my opinion he is nut a good.. He is a physical player but almost can not won dual game.and then nut a good goal scorer poor technical G is average player arsenal need a trophy need a finisher player.
