Brazilian Ready To “Achieve Dream Of Playing For Arsenal”

By on December 24, 2013

On-loan attacker Wellington Silva says he will have his work permit sorted in time for pre-season and is ready to achieve his dream of playing for Arsenal.

We signed Silva from Fluminense back in 2010 with Arsene Wenger believing he would be granted a visa by FIFA and be available to compete in the squad immediately.

However, the paperwork failed to materialise so we were forced to send him out on loan where he has spent time with Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina and Murcia over the last three years.

The highly-rated attacker has now revealed that he has begun the process of acquiring a European passport and believes it should be granted in January 2014 when he will have been a resident in Spain for three years.

This would allow Silva to return to Arsenal in the summer and make a push for the squad ahead of the 2014/15 season, with the 20-year-old claiming he feels ready to achieve his dream of playing for the Gunners. He said:

“The process to the get the passport is already under way.

“The Spanish law says that to request the documents you have to have been here two years. In January 2014, it will be three years so I think they will be ready.

“The pre-season in England starts in July and I’ll have a passport by then.

“I hope to have the opportunity to achieve my dream of playing for Arsenal. The team is strong and I hope to fit in well.” [source: Sky Sports]

I remember there was a lot of hype surrounding Silva when we signed him back in 2010 and while he certainly has bags of ability, he’s not really fulfilled his potential yet.

During his loan spells he’s only managed to score 7 goals and lay on 1 assist in 51 appearances and he was sent home early from his time at Levante due to disciplinary problems, so he still has much to prove if he’s going to make it at Arsenal.

Hopefully he can come back to the club at the end of the season and show us what he’s capable of.

We have a golden tendency to rubbish people with ambition and dreams. I hope he will not loose sight of his dream, and commence by working harder hoping to impress in the Summer.

Being but out into the wilderness could be a killer of dreams, future goals and strong RESOLVE. The least Arsenal can do is to give the lad a try. We all need a lucky break!!! With some it is a case of – Who You Know? Being at the right place and the right time; A few is share talent – others have to prove themselves again and again.
