RATINGS: My Ratings From Arsenal’s Superb 3-0 Win Over Cardiff

By on November 30, 2013

Arsenal eventually eased past Cardiff 3-0 thanks to a brace from Aaron Ramsey and a thunderous strike from Mathieu Flamini, with Mesut Ozil helping himself to a couple of assists.

Here are my ratings:

Szczesny 8/10 – Stunning save denied Campbell early in the second half.  Was quick off his line to deny Mutch as well in a superb all-round display. In the form of his life.

Sagna 7/10 – Solid enough. Not his most effective going forward bat rarely troubled at the back.

Gibbs 6.5/10 – Poor defending allowed Campbell a free header, luckily Szczesny saved to keep us at 1-0.

Mertesacker 7/10 – Took a nasty head to the face from Sagna early on but recovered to play the full game. Was clam and assured again at the back.

Koscielny 7.5/10 – Made a couple of vital interceptions and blocks. Rock solid again.

Arteta 7.5/10 – Back to his best. Superb performance and stifled the hosts on more than one occasion. Vital in front of the defence.

Ramsey 9/10 –  Beautiful header for the opener and killed the game with a late third. He just simply can’t stop scoring and almost grabbed an assist after setting up Giroud with some great footwork. Deserved his applause from the home fans.

Wilshere 6/10 – Smacked the post with a stunning early effort but faded as the game went on. Looked tired and was eventually subbed.

Ozil 8/10 – Superb cross/pass for the opening goal and made 24/25 passes in first half. Grabbed another assist with a well-weighted ball for Flamini. He doesn’t always look like he’s ‘running the game’ but you can’t deny he makes a difference where it counts.

Cazorla 7/10 – Was pretty involved in the first half but faded a bit in the second half. Missed a decent chance to get on the scoresheet when he shot straight at Marshall.

Giroud 6.5/10 – Inexcusably stopped assuming he was offside when he was clean through and a golden chance to score was wasted. Saw his close range shot cleared off the line in the second half. Not really his day.

Subs:

Flamini (7), Monreal (6), Walcott (6.5)

Another three points and another excellent display from the boys. Rambo is going from strength to strength, the defence has kept five clean sheets in six games and Ozil is back assisting his team mates. To top it off, we’re seven points clear.

Sit back and enjoy Sunday’s games, we’ve done our job now let’s see how our rivals get on…

I think Wilshere didn’t get a fair rating. He was lively both defensively making some sliding tackles and switching plays in the park. Gave Cazorla a key pass.. Giroud should have gotten the least rating I think. All d same you doing a good job.
