RATINGS: My Player Ratings From The Defeat To Man Utd

By on November 10, 2013

It was a disappointing performance at Old Trafford as we fell to our second league defeat of the season with a 1-0 loss to United.

The boys failed to really create enough going forward and made a huge mistake by given Van Persie the space to head home the winner. I thought we just about deserved a point but it wasn’t to be. Here are my ratings:

Szczesny 7/10 – Could do little for the goal but made a couple of routine saves and was confident off his line to deal with some crosses.

Sagna 7.5/10 – Was one of our better performers on the day and he created our best two chances of the game with a couple of excellent crosses which should have been converted.

Koscielny 6.5/10 – Solid enough but was given a bit of a tough time by Rooney who didn’t give him a minutes peace.

Vermaelen 6.5/10 – Performed OK on his return to the side and didn’t really put a foot wrong, although I do feel we wouldn’t have conceded the goal had Mertesacker been playing.

Gibbs 7/10 – Dealt with the threat of Valencia reasonably well and almost got on the end of one of Sagna’s crosses.

Arteta 6.5/10 – I thought he battled well in the middle of the park but his passing was off in the first half. Helped dominate play after the break.

Flamini 6.5/10 – Back in the team and was his usual terrier-like self, picking up his routine booking before being taken off for Wilshere.

Cazorla 5/10 – Very disappointing from Santi. He really didn’t have any real impact on the game and was eventually subbed.

Ozil 5/10 – His worst performance in an Arsenal shirt. Looked to be playing in second gear and I’ve never seen him pass the ball so badly. We needed him to step up and he failed to deliver. Hopefully he’s back to his best after the international break.

Ramsey 6/10 – Another one who failed to reproduce his recent form.

Giroud 6/10 – Not his day. Failed to link up with Ozil, Cazorla, etc, and wasn’t a goal threat. Some say he didn’t get the service but Sagna put in two superb crosses and Giroud was nowhere to be seen. Also failed to prevent RVP scoring the winner.

SUBS:

Wilshere 7/10 – Made a positive impact when he came on and was doing his best to make things happen.

Bendtner 5/10 – Missed the chance to make himself a hero as he failed to gamble on a Sagna cross which would have left him with a tap in.

Gnabry – 6.5/10 – Added some much-needed pace to our attack.

Despite the loss we remain top by two points and the damage was limited with losses for Spurs and City today. It’s a two week international break now before we welcome Southampton to the Emirates.

What were your thoughts on the game?

Agreed on Cazorla and Ozil. This was the kind of game where we needed at least one of the three (with Ramsey) to grab hold.

Gnabry was lively and direct, wish we’d seen more of him.

Bendtner plays like he doesn’t want to do Arsenal the favour of scoring for them and, maybe, having to be retained at the club further. His attitude on the pitch tends to give credence to reports of a recent interview where he is said to have bemoaned not having been sold in the summer.
