Arsenal Agree Deal To Re-Sign French Utility Player Flaimini

By on August 28, 2013

Arsenal have reached an agreement to re-sign utility player Mathieu Flaimini, according to reports today.

The 29-year-old left Arsenal under a cloud five years ago when he rejected a new contract offer from the club to sign for Italian giants AC Milan on a free transfer.

His time in Serie A didn’t go according to plan and he’s struggled to hold down a regular first team place, and he once again decided to reject a new contract offer from Milan when his contract expired in June.

Now a free agent, Flamini returned to the club to train with the first team in order to keep fit as he assessed his options. Reports emerged last week that suggested Arsene Wenger had decided to try and re-sign him as cover due to our injury problem at the back and in midfield.

It seems we’ve moved a step closer to securing our second signing of the summer as Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri claims we’ve now reached an agreement with the tenacious midfielder.

If this is true, Flamini will be a useful addition as he’ll be able to cover at right-back, left-back and in the centre of midfield but I certainly hope there is better to come from Wenger after all we’ve been promised.  Two free transfer signings aren’t going to cut it this summer.

Nothing official has come out from the club but Palmeri has close links with Sky Italia, so we’ll have to see if his signing is announced any time soon.

What do you make of the proposed signing of Flamini?

If wenger fails to bring in any quality players ,due to the depth in the squad ,and the gunners fail to challenge,he shd leave asap.
All fans have enough of his regime.

Not all fans just the glory hunters and the ones who think they could do better, this is not FM2014 you know. Let the proffesionals get on with their business and if you are not happy do one., go and support Chelski or City and you certainly do not speak for the true fans of the best club in the world!

what makes a true fan my friend? If we arn’t hunting 4 glory, what esle should we be hunting 4? only a loser will do otherwise, so shut up!

David, wat re u hunting 4 as a true fan if not glory ? U re a big FOOL !

          August 28, 2013 at 12:56 pm

What David means is that true fans support the club whatever happens. They didn’t just jump on a winning bandwagon a few years ago and then start moaning when they couldn’t brag to their mates about being associated with glory. If your only reason for “supporting” Arsenal is to massage your own ego then we don’t need you. I would suggest Man U, Chelski or Man City would suit your aims somewhat better.

Andrew, God bless you for your comment. Fans rhould ask Man City how much they have spent in this window. Didnt Cardiff show them how reasonable money is to be spent? Would the fans calling for Wenger’s head have spent €20 milion on Cabaye when a better player is free?

i dont need any big signing because it will disturb the developing players and truly they are strong we only need backup incase of injuries yes. because if it is about big name maybe real madrid, man city,PSG,monaco expecially madrid and mancity should have been carring champions league alway .wel to my opinion the current squard should be more strong and fit expecially rosicky and whilshere

What Wenger needs is to sign few players that will fill those loop holes in the team. N for those fans supporting Wenger, let’s face facts, we r all bored not winning anything!

  18. Cran

    August 28, 2013 at 2:05 pm

Wenger has little or no respect for the fans. If he had some respect, he would not have been playing deceitful games since January, by promising to buy top players. Knowing the way things work, better than most and certainly better than we, the fans – he knew the Suarez was dead in the pond from the start, while feigning to have a great interest for buying Suarez. Just like all the other big names who had and have no intention of moving to Arsenal. Yohan Cabaye who seems to want to come won’t – because his price will simply not be met and will let Wenger off the hook. Same for Mata and any other who does not happen to be a teenager, or free transfer or just cheap. Tell us it is not so because we -TRUE FANS, not hiding our heads in the sands – want only the truthful best from the manager and board – always.

    • Sid

      August 28, 2013 at 2:15 pm

Cran.. okay then please explain how to sign a top player who is under contract?

      • Cran

        August 28, 2013 at 3:12 pm

Ask Wenger your question and after he answers, read my posting again. The TRUE FANS are being strung along with empty promises since January. If Wenger comes out with a statement where we are to understand a top player is ACTUALLY being pursued, bet your life that Wenger and Board know perfectly well, the top player will not come, because the price will not be met – EVEN THOUGH we have been told there is Cash to spend. How come other teams do manage to actually get top players but Arsenal, time and time again cannot? Ask yourself this question.

        • Sid

          August 28, 2013 at 3:27 pm

Cran perhaps this will help you.

Man City make there money out of oil.

Chelsea make there mony out of oil.

Man United have the biggest fan base in the word and have just signed a dodgy deal with Chevrolet thet got the man in charge
          sacked.
Real madrid and Barcelona share 90% of La Liga Tv rights.
          So they get first pickings.

          • Cran

            August 28, 2013 at 3:43 pm

They get “good pickings” because they start early to buy, Unlike Wenger who has quite openly admitted that he likes to wait till the end of the transfer market. So what do you expect?
Any top player will not be released by top clubs in the last weeks of transfers because they know they will not be able to get similar replacements. Who replaced RVP, Cesc, Nasri, and the many others who we sold during the last week or so. We we lucky to get Arteta on the last day.

          • Sid

            August 28, 2013 at 3:51 pm

In answer to the rely below.

Each top player and agent are waiting until they know that the big spending clubs don’t want them before they make the move.

For instance we could get Cabaye tomorrow for £20 but what if Mata is available on the last day of the window and we have spent the money on seconed rate players.

    August 28, 2013 at 3:10 pm

Everyclub that wins trophees spends money on big players..

Sid, maybe u should ask barca man c and man u how they bought our players that were under contract..

We have been in the champ league for 16 years in a row and we havnt won it yet, 16 tries and only been in the final once..

I suppport arsenal, I don’t support wenger and arsenal, the team I support needs a better manager to take the club bk to the glory days.. I’m tired of seeing us fight for 4th place and not 1st place,

This arsenal side is very good but not good enough to win the league, one the day our 1st 11 cn beat the best, but we nt gng to have that 1st 11 every game..

I’m nt putting anyone down, I want arsenal to be a top team once agn, not even small teams fear arsnal anymore, we need another world class striker, a proper DM, a proper winger and a centre back.

    Peace

    • Sid

      August 28, 2013 at 3:14 pm

Is really nice to hear each of u guys pour out ur mind,we r all true gunner faithful,we believe in d team but one thing is 4 sure, that is we need to celebrate our team success,hw do u feel when asnl keep going trophy less, loosing so many games, been totally out of contention with d season nt almost half way? We keep struggling to qualify 4 UCL. Hw many of us can bet our money when asnl is playing manU,Chls, manC etc, even d lesser teams r confidence of beating d gunners,in short d team needs serious reinforcement to bcom d gunner of old.

Most of u that are talking abt Arsenal in this forum don’t know that Arsenal is a team with history and tradition. But 8 seasons without a title is not good for a team like arsenal. We r not asking for money to be spent like Real or Man city…Arsenal has a lean squad that needs strengthening. Let Wenger make good additions so we can challenge for titles. Period!

Arsenal have lost one game since March and who is to blame for this crisis?

Arsene Wenger the man who has helped make Arsenal one of the top 10 sports clubs in the world without the aid of a sugar daddy.

BEFORE YOU STARTED TO SUPPORT ARSENAL YOU NEEDED TO LOOK AT ARSENAL’S HISTORY WE ARE NOT A BIG SPENDING CLUB WE ARE KNOWN AS “THE BANK of ENGLAND CLUB”
