Wilshere Claims He Might Leave Arsenal If Wenger Quits

By on August 23, 2013

Some interesting quotes have emerged attributed to young Jack Wilshere, with the midfielder claiming he would consider quitting Arsenal if Arsene Wenger ever left the club.

Wilshere has been with us ever since he was 9 years old and is regarded by many as a future captain of the team. He’s seen as the new ‘Mr Arsenal’.

However, with the boss coming under increasing pressure from the fans there are many who would like to see him step down when his contract expires at the end of this forthcoming campaign. But if that were to happen, Wilshere has claimed he would have to consider his own future at the club.

Speaking in the Irish Independent newspaper, Wilshere said:

“I want to win things with Arsenal and I want to be there in the future, but if the boss leaves then things could change,”

Interesting comment to make, and it’s not been received particularly well among Gooners on Twitter this afternoon. Many feel his loyalty should be with Arsenal, not Wenger, but I wouldn’t look too much into it. He’s more reaffirming his faith in Wenger than trying to cast doubt over his future at Arsenal in my opinion.

He goes on to say he’s shown his commitment to the club by signing a five-year contract and says everything if good “at the moment”, before throwing further support behind Wenger:

“Arsenal are always in my heart and by signing a deal for the next five years shows my commitment to them and their commitment to me so at the moment everything is good.

“Arsene Wenger has been there for so many years and he’s always delivered trophies.

“OK we’ve had a little dip in the last five or six years, but he’s a great manager and people who question his ability are ridiculous.

“He’s qualified for the Champions’ League for 16 years so I think he’s the right man for the job.”

Jack also says it’s been difficult to cope with losing star names such as Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas but feels the club has a strong core of young players who are now starting to come of age, and it’s only a matter of time until we start winning trophies again.

“We have lost a few strong, big-name players in recent years and that’s hard for any club,” the 21-year-old England midfielder said.

“First we lost Thierry Henry and then Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie.

“That’s hard, especially when Robin went to another team in England, it makes it harder for us to compete.

“But now we’ve got a good crop of young English players coming through and if we stay together and build something then we can win a trophy in the next few years.”

Let’s hope Jack is right. We do have a good group of young British players but they need to be supported by some world class talent as well. Let’s see if Arsene can bring them in before the window closes….

I agree with Wilshere argument.I also forsee many Arsenal players with future prospect leave with Wenger, if the board did not renew his contract. Many Arsenal supporters failed to realize that Wenger brought fame to Arsenal that is now known everywhere,in addition to being part of the construction of Emirate Stadium.Arsenal supporters should exercise patient with Wenger,he means well for the team.we should not follow in the pattern of failed teams like liverpool, newcastle, tothenham,QPR and ect that have money but with no vision.Let us remember the saying that an Hen is not appreciated at home until it is allowed to go out and get stolen by those who value it.

Wilshire is bound to say that because of the relationship he has with wenger and the fact that he’s young doesnt help either. I’m sure when ur part of arsenal FC it’s hard to See what’s really going on that’s the problem. It’s only from the outside that we can make an objective judgment and its obvious from this position that Wenger has lost boat touch, despite all the good he’s done for the club it’s time for him to leave. The fact that we are have been in the champions league for all this time is only a miracle for the past 3 or four years before that we did not have 4-5 teams to properly compete with. Arsene wenger was handed a defence which helped him win those initial trophies, a defence which he has never been able to rebuild. He is a week character to have as our leader we need someone far more ruthless and aggressive to take us to the next level. I think wilshire is great but if he as to leave due to wenger then let it be.

If Wilshire believes Wenger should be at Arsenal in 2017 he better start a re-think because if Wenger is there, he and Wishire will be the only ones left, the fans will be long gone.

Please don’t try to speak for all of us. You don’t have a monopoly on knowing how people think.

So it is the defense handed over to him that made him successful even 8 years after taking over? That defense was still left with him 8 years after and the invincible won with it? Let’s be factual and not be jaundiced in our view just because Arsenal did not win trophy in the last 8 years. Even in those 8 years, getting the champion league spot is a great achievement that many clubs with cash available dream of, but never achieve. Based on the resources available to Wenger in those period because of the need to pay back accumulated debt from the stadium project, getting 3rd/4th position consistently is more than great. Arsenal is the best coach, based on return on investment. Trophy or no trophy.

Has a business Arsenal is poorly managed. Our football has changed, the only to make is to sell our workers and under pay the others. When we sell our players at prenuim wenger never complaines but to buy then the price aint right.

seun .. Arsenal are the best run club in the premiership.
As the buisness in football I would say they are run outstanding.

Robin van Persie and Cese Fabregas often said the same thing, but they were the first to jump the boat, while we are still here waiting for Wenger to do the right thing for once.

Wilshire is a Arsenal man and it hurts him when Arsene gets unfair critisism from his own.
No other club has so many glory hunting fans with unrealistic hopes fueled by the media.
