Arsenal To Hijack Tottenham’s Move For £30m Lamela?

By on August 21, 2013

Arsenal could be ready to hijack Tottenham’s move for Roma attacker Erik Lamela, according to reports in Italy.

Reports here in Britain claim that Spurs are on the verge of signing the 21-year-old after holding talks with Roma official Walter Sabatini on Tuesday.

However, the vibe coming out of Italy is a very different one with Sky Sport Italia saying that Sabatini left London after the two clubs failed to agree a fee, with Spurs refusing to go above £25m while Roma are demanding £30m.

Here’s the good part, the report also claims that Arsenal have now entered the race and are interested in signing the Argentinean international, with ‘rumours’ suggesting that we could be set to ‘dive in’ with a late bid. Liverpool are also said to be monitoring the situation as well.

Gooners have had to sit back and watch our local rivals spend close to £100m – when they complete the signing of Willian – so it would be a welcome treat if we did gazump them with a late move for Lamela.

The youngster looks to be a huge talent and 15 goals in 33 games last season is an impressive haul. The gap between Spurs bid and Roma’s valuation isn’t insurmountable so if we are going to try and snap him up from under their noses, we better do it quickly.

Whether we’ll be prepared to pay the £30m asking price is another matter. We’ve not got a good track record of paying the going rate for players so far this summer, so I’m not convinced Arsene Wenger will sanction such a bid for a relatively unproven winger.

I’m not sure Arsene blowing nearly half of his budget on a 21 year old hopeful makes much sense. Spurs at least have Soldado now and could let lamella develop.

Besides, i think central defense, goal keeper and a 20 goal a year striker should be further up the list.

You’ve got a 20 goal a year striker in Giroud I reckon.Of course he needed a season to settle and I’m sure he’ll do well this time tho I sincerely hope he doesn’t.

Desperation? You know whatever Arsene offers we will top it. If he spends anything over 10 mill on one player he tends to get a nose bleed. Next!

Sorry goons he’s heading to The Lane. The real story here if you care to engage your brains is that Roma are negotiating with Spurs and trying to get as much $$$ out of the deal as they can. So, here’s the clever bit so pay attention, they use Italian media to hopefully pressure us into completing a rushed deal. Say whaaaaaaa!! Football clubs use the media for their own benefit? I’m afraid so.

hahahahahahahaha you would be happy signing a winger when you clearly need a new keeper, defensive mid, centre back and striker! you would rather gazump spurs than sign one of the many players you actualy need?????? no wonder youre on such a downward spiral!!!

Ha ha! to be honest you need to act quickly if you are to sign ANYONE! and if you get bashed by Fenerbache, which is not unlikely, you will have lost your Champions League status too which will make it all the more difficult.I can see some serious panic buys in the pipeline.Your board screwed it up when they declared that they had a multi million pound warchest up for grabs.Nice move that.North London is ours!!

You need a decent holding midfielder like Capoue,a keeper like Lloris,a centre back like Vertonghen and just maybe a striker like Soldado.Perhaps you should have gone for those players? Oh damn! You did but they came to the Lillywhites. If you wanna buy players you don’t need ‘just to piss us yids off’ and leave yourselves ridiculously vulnerable then crack on! As you were. But I have to tell you, watching you lose at home against a team that we put six goals past last season when you were one nil up inside six minutes really doesn’t piss us off.Hell! If you don’t address your problems and carry on like that ALL season I might even buy me a season ticket for Arsenal. It would be so worth the money watching you get opened up EVERY game!! North London is ours! COYS!

Thats exactly what Arsenal need isnt it… chucking huge amounts of money on another ‘creative midfielder’. Perhaps you should look for a goalkeeper, centreback and combative midfielder first. Your midfield is chock full of creative midfielders and not one who can make a tackle or lead a team. Yet the only people you are linked with is Cabaye and Lamela. Seems Arsene Wenger doesnt see what everyone else sees…..

OOOOOH Twatenhams Twatenhams Twatenhams. You run you beaks here because we lost our home game. I want to assure you that even when we loose all our home games this season, you Twatenhams will not finish ahead of us. Isn’t it strange that we are on a downward spiral but we still finish ahead of you? very strange! COYG
