Arsenal Have £12m Bid For Yohan Cabaye Rejected

By on August 19, 2013

Arsenal have had a £12m bid for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye rejected, according to reports this afternoon.

Sky Sports ‘broke’ the news that a bid had been submitted around 1pm and this was quickly followed by the Daily Mail reporting that a £12m offer had been rejected by Newcastle.

Cabaye joined the Geordies from Lille two years ago and has been a huge success in the Premier League. While some fans are concerned he’s not the out-and-out defensive midfielder we desperately need, I do feel he’d be a good fit into the Arsenal set up.

You also have to consider he’ll likely be a ‘replacement’ for Mikel Arteta, who’s out for six weeks through injury, and we may even see another ‘proper’ defensive midfielder come in as well. Sky Sports claim we’ve enquired about Sevilla’s Geoffrey Kondogbia today so if we bring him in as well as Cabaye I’ll certainly be a happy Gooner.

Kondogbia is a beast of a midfielder who’s got huge potential. He may not be ready to play week-in, week-out just yet but he’ll be an excellent addition if we could snap him up. However, Real Madrid and Monaco have been linked as well this summer so I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet.

We’re certainly going to have to pay more than £12m for Cabaye though. Will Wenger pay what it takes? We’ll have to wait and see but I’m not holding my breath….

Would you like to see Cabaye join Arsenal? What about Kondogbia?

No. He’s not good enough. Spend double. And then spend another £70m on top and we might make. Top 4. We should then go into the market and secure Klopp as manager for next year for whatever that costs. He will need another £70m then.

Em yes it has and even if it does end up being accepted he’s most likely going to turn arsenal down, why would he want to join arsenal who’s not going to finish In the top 4, he would rather go to someone like Man U, PSG, Monaco, even Tottenham coz they will finish higher then arsenal this season, hahahahahah and getting beat of villa hahaha joke stay at newcastle cabaye

For gawd’s sake pay the club what they want for this player and stop your stinginess nonsense once and for all. You owe us fans that much and a lot more believe me…

If you can’t do this go somewhere else…..

Somes Wenger up this. blind to where the problems lie unless Cabaye can double as a keeper centre half or defensive midfielder and then knock in 25 a season up front. No thanks

Mike Ashley will sense blood, he knows we are desperate and time running out we would have to at least double that to 24 million and pay way over the odds. We are in this position for not doing our business early, wenger has lost the plot I would rather he walked away and the money was given to Laudrup or Klopp to make us competitive again. The fans are sick of buying potential at these ticket prices we at least deserve proven worldclass talent.

Cabaye is one of the first names on France’s teamsheet – I reckon that’s proven world class talent. Midfield all-rounder with a smashing first touch – £20m is the price. Hope the Mancs don’t snap him up.

What is going on ?????????? 12m for Cabaye is a joke the guy is worth between 20-25m. I’ve been a gooner all my life and love our club, but what the f==k is going on ????? I’ve never before agreed with the wenger boo-boys but I now have to say he’s no longer the man for us. I hate writing this but enough is enough, power or whatever has clearly gone to his head and rendered him incapable of leading us forward. Yes the board share the blame, they run our beloved Arsenal like a bunch of muppets or worse they are running it exactly how they want it run. Seeing Lady B-S saying she wished she hadn’t sold to the yank prick is very very telling. How can anyone still support this, in business this approach is akin to a corporate buy-out where the new owners come in and asset strip their new acquisition. I couldn’t believe it reading that in the last 20 years Arsenal have spend a little over 20m on signings compared to Chelsea’s 615m +
So when us gooners say Spend some F==king money, we’re right DO IT NOW !
Why won’t Wenger just pay he price for a player and offer the right wages to attract the best, its disgusting !
Wenger says he wants quality – so f–king pay the right money then
look at who we could have had:

    Suarez
    Higuain
    Fellaine
    Benteke
    Rooney
    Falcao ?
    Gustavo
    Bender
    Williams
Michu (not good enough in my opinion)
    Wanyama
    Luis ?
    Eto
    Willian
    etc etc etc

Any of these players would make our first team
what more bollocks do we have to put up with, if we go out of the CL on Wednesday, thats it, they ALL should resign.
Put the fat Uzbek in, how can he be any worse than what we already have ??????????????

How are the players in Europe viewing Arsenal, are the viewing Arsenal as a laughing stock, a stop over club or a football club that is serious of winning trophies? I am just flabbergast as to why Arsenal is finding it so hard to attract quality players to the club. Is the board and players is delusional thinking that Arsenal is still a BIG CLUB or is Arsenal still a BIG CLUB. Does the board really know how to work in the transfer market? Arsenal is forever my club, but I am more concern now after that defeat by Villa

Simon, if you don’t think Cabaye is a good player, then you need to give your head a shake. He’s no defensive midfielder, but his creativity is unbelievably good.

We don’t need any more creativity, we need some balls, heart, and some players who don’t hang their heads when the going gets tough. A new Goalkeeper and a couple defenders as well.

Today on Talksport’s sports breakfast show Moyes was being defended for Man utd’s low offer on the Everton pair. They were making it clear Moyes just identifies players and tell the cheif exec. The negotiations is not done by Moyes but the men upstairs. Isn’t this the same at Arsenal? Yet ONLY Wenger, not kroneke, Ivan, etc., ALWAYS gets the blame.
Wenger was successful before the current board but now he is not – no brainer where the REAL problems are.
If Wenger is doing the boardroom negotiations then what is point of having Ivan and the rest of board there anyway?

  11. The basic truth is wenger is an evil spirit sent to give arsenal fans hypertension and highblood pressure. Wenger knows what he’s doing and he’s happy about it. Those arsenal fans in london that still pay for tickets to watch wenger fool himself in matches are all idiots. Metesacker, ramsey, sagna, diaby and wenger are my arch enemies. Arsenal manager should be either klopp or guardiolar by now and we still want their kind off calibre as a manager for this Emirate clud. Falcao, paulinho, fernadinho, j.navas, jovetic, negredo, rooney, fellaini, suarez, higuain, gustavo, llorente, pogba, all these players are linked with arsenal transfers but none materialise because of wenger’s selfish character. Wenger always goes for player that he knows the signing will be impossible just to impress the ingnorant fans. I’ll love to meet wenger myself so that i’ll show him how to spend £70m on buying players in the transfer market. I remain an arsenal fan with great passion and love. I love rosicky, kosielny, poldosky and wilshere because they always play with great passion (dedication) and seriousness no matter what the game is. Gunners for life even when i get to heaven.

£12m for cabaye? Why do we pay wenger £6m per year for being trophyless and clueless? Why not bid £20m for messi?

I have always supported arsenal through good and bad times but the future does not look good unless we spend some money on quality players fast.

Wenger is not interested in winning anything probably because he had an agreement with the board that his job is safe.
    Imagine:
Tevez 12mil and wages of 170k/week
Gomez 10mil and wages of 100k/week
Higuain 30mil and wages of 120k/week
Llorente free agent and wages of 90k/week
    Fellaini 23mil and 90k/week
    Ashley Williams 12mil and 60/week
Only that they are too expensive for wenger, but would tell us he is looking for players.
He is making the team play beyond capacity no wonder they are always injured. sad that he would look for another player worse than present squad.

I think Arsenal management need to realise that it is their fault for bidding late. If we had bid early we could have got him for that much but now they know we are desperate. Besides they, too, will need a replacement who will not be cheap to get. That said, Arsenal should reach an agreement with New Castle and buy this player. We have a very bad habit of bidding and then giving up because we think players are overpriced! You can’t claim to be a big club when you want to buy cheap players. It is up to us to redeem our season or have the agony of another trophyless season! I wonder whether this is truly Wenger’s doing or he is just a good servant who takes all the blame on behalf of his hapless and clueless masters! My feeling is that Wenger is just a shock absorber for his masters.
