Report: Arsenal Ready To Table Improved £45m Suarez Bid

By on August 10, 2013

According to reports today, Arsenal are ready to submit an improved £45m bid for want-away Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, despite the Merseysiders insisting he wont be sold this summer.

Liverpool owner J W Henry released a statement on Thursday saying that Suarez would not be sold to Arsenal or any other club at any price this summer after rejecting our two bids – believed to be worth £35m and £40,000,001.

Arsene Wenger then responded on Friday by saying that Suarez remained a target and while we would have to respect Liverpool’s decision not to sell, he still hinted that a deal could be on the cards saying ‘if it will be done‘ and ‘at the moment‘ Liverpool do not want to sell.

He told Sky Sports News.

“There is nothing to add to what I said already about the transfer of Suarez.

“If it will be done, it will be done in a respectful and amicable way with Liverpool.

“I didn’t read (Henry’s) statements but we’ll be faithful to the way we want to behave.

“To make a transfer happen, you need the agreement of three parties – the buyer, the seller and the player.

“We know what we want to do. The player, if I look at the statements, (does) as well. Liverpool at the moment do not agree. If they change their minds or not, I don’t know. We’ll respect that.

“We are looking at possibilities to strengthen our squad. Suarez is one of the targets. If he’s not for sale, he’s not for sale, we have to accept that.

“Every club has its own way of dealing with things, we have our way and we respect all the other clubs.”

The Telegraph are now reporting that we’re going to back in with an improved £45m bid, which if true is unlikely to persuade Liverpool to sell. I feel it will require a bid in excess of £50m to even think about selling the striker to us.

Henry and Rodgers appear adamant they won’t be selling at any price but we’ve heard all that before, many times. We said the same thing about RVP, they said the same thing about Torres, and both were sold.

Suarez has made his position at Anfield untenable after publicly stating he wants out, so if they get an offer big enough, he’ll go. They’ve hinted already that the figure they want is around £50m-£55m, so if our £45m offer includes add ons we might have some luck, but I still think Liverpool will try and drag this out right until the last few days of the window and will do all they can to find a foreign buyer.

The sale of Torres means nothing and if thats you argument then you are clutching at straws, also you must know Suarez will never be sold for 45m.

Critical needs are required to add in the lethal striker position, a defensive midfielder and a guy between the sticks At least! And ASAP!

Where is the evidence that Wenger is going to bid £45m? Why do you allow the newspapers to mess with your head? Just take what Arsene has said and ignore the Telegraph rubbish!

John, at the end of the day the price of any product in this world is what buyer is prepared to pay for it. At the moment there is no other bid for Suarez of more than Arsenal’s. As we can’t criticise Liverpool for putting £55m price tag, no body can criticise Arsenal for biding £40m +. Finally a price will be reached, whether its £45, £50, or £55m. All Liverpool fans need to accept this.

I’m not so sure. I actually do believe that this once, they are gonna be stubborn and not sell. At least not to us.
We all know as well that it could get to a point where they say “sod it let’s get round the table”, bids go back and fourth and end up where we have offered 59.9m, they say make it 60 and he’s yours and Wenger backs out!
I have no confidence in Wenger/the board in this transfer window and I think after the many, MANY years of repeated let downs that I am well within my rights to hold that opinion.
Don’t anyone start getting on my back about supporting my team no matter what as well because I am a season ticket holder born and bread in Islington so I will not be told by some foreign team chooser, how to support my team.

What does it take for you to realise Liverpool are not selling Suarez to Arsenal.

This doesn’t ring true at all. The Arsenal board must have known that a bid of just £1 more than the £40m that they thought would trigger a clause would wind the Liverpool board up and events show that is exactly what happened. JWH has been very public in making his feelings known and he’s not going to make himself look stupid by climbing down over the odd 5-10%. Everyone has their price, sure enough, but given his comments on the cheeky offer, the fact he sees Arsenal as the team they need to overtake if they want to get in the CL, the lateness in the window to conclude a replacement and the fact that they want £50-55m (from abroad) I really don’t see the Arsenal board trying to take the piss again

Andrew, It’s not Arsenal FC that Liverpool need to overtake. First they should worry about overtaking Everton and Spurs. Even with Suarez in their team, they are too for behind Arsenal. They had him in their team last year. They didnt finish above us. Even by loosing RVP we still finished above them. I keep hearing this rubbish from media and everyone else. I am sure Spurs will finish above Liverpool next season.

Its matters not if Liverpool are not a rival to Arsenal, its that they want to be and that’s all that matters to them, and when you look at it from this viewpoint, its pretty easy to understand their reasoning on why they are so against selling Suarez to Arsenal.

        August 10, 2013 at 5:02 pm

Oh I agree with you, but the point is if Liverpool want to finish in the top 4 they will have to finish above Arsenal, whether Arsenal are 5th, 6th or 20th. I think if Liverpool sold to Chelsea or either of the Manc sides it wouldn’t really affect them, at least in the short to medium term. But selling to Arsenal (or Spurs) would affect them.

We need suarez in our squard, and I think mr wenger and his co hort should slot in a bid of 51million pounds for suarez and thereafter go after fellaini and williams if possible julio cesar.the title is ours.

just shows you how thick gooners and wenger are, they ars 4 simple words in plain english, hes not for sale, just acceptthat, dont give us the torres crap at no point did liverpool ever say he wasnt for sale, unlike suarez, so please learn to read, and learn to listen

    • Sam

      August 10, 2013 at 11:21 am

Mal, but your manager and owner keep saying that he is for sale at £55 m+ and to a European club.

You clinging to forlorn hopes if you think the Torres sale will have any bearing on Suarez. Its time to accept that Arsenal are not signing him. Its best to move on and and start to concentrate on the other areas of your squad that are in more urgent need of additions before the window closes…

“he’s” is a contraction. five words, moron. the reds look desperate, attempting to show their power, when football is in a player’s era. suarez was a teenager the last time anfield was a serious threat.

it is similar to the girlfriend that can’t process that the relationship is over.

nobody world class wants to be part of mid-table team’s “project”.

“I never listened to John Henry’s quote.” Arsend he said we wont sell and especially to Arsenal. “We will conduct our business our way” it appears that’s in public Mr Whinger. As for the price cavani went for £55m and Luis is better than him. There’s a quote from Brendan Rodgers. What makes you think Liverpool will sell for £45m. If I was LFC I would loan him until mid Dec. By then Arsenal will be out of champ lge and they will have git him fit after missing 6 games. I think this is a deliberate ploy by the Arse as excuse not to spend. I can see the quote “we tried but they wouldn’t sell'”.

There has been nothing to indicate that we are going to increase the bid to £45m. Some of the news indicates we are going to bid £40m for Rooney. This story isnt true as far as I am concerned until it happens. So lets stop commenting and calling the so called decision of the board to bid £45m when when the story has no validity and is based on purely hearsay.

Arsenal Need To Be Serious About The Rooney Bid And Keep An Open Mind About Suarez. What’s wrong in having 2 of them anyway?
