Suarez Threatens Liverpool With Legal Action To Seal ‘Dream’ Arsenal Move

By on August 6, 2013

Luis Suarez is ready to take drastic measures to force a move to Arsenal this summer and is willing to take Liverpool to court for breach of contract, according to the Daily Mail.

As we should all know by now, Suarez believes Arsenal automatically triggered a release clause in his contract when we bid £40,000,001 two weeks ago, with the Uruguayan and his advisers claiming they have an agreement with Liverpool that would allow the striker to join a club in the Champions League should a bid of over £40m be submitted.

The Merseysiders dispute this, claiming they are under no obligation to sell at any price, leaving our bid to sign the controversial hitman in limbo.

The Mail say Suarez has been left furious by Liverpool’s stance and will now go to the Premier League to have them ratify the clause as he looks to force through his ‘dream’ move to Arsenal (I’m not sure I would call AFC Suarez’s ‘dream’ move, but that’s what the Mail have gone with).

It that fails, the 26-year-old will then look to take Liverpool to court if his legal team feel they have a case for breach of contract. The final option would be to hand in a formal transfer request, but this is seen as a last resort – presumably as the player wouldn’t want to lose his loyalty bonuses which are believed to be worth in excess of £5m.

Arsenal are sitting waiting to see how this whole mess pans out before deciding the next move, but the newspaper claims we’re reluctant to meet Liverpool’s £50m asking price as we’ve been led to believe by Suarez’s camp that we’ve triggered the players release clause already.

So we’re no closer to a breakthrough and it’s mind-boggling that this deal is being held up by an apparent release clause. Surely it exists, or it doesn’t exist?! There has been talk that the release clause was in fact a ‘verbal agreement’ and it not actually written into the players contract, which if true, would explain the current stand-off.

But a verbal agreement is unlikely to hold up in court, so I’m not sure where all this leaves us. We’re playing a very dangerous game here and if it doesn’t work out how we hope, we could end up without a big-name striker when the window closes.

Make no mistake, this Suarez saga is going to run right until the final few days of the window. Do we want to take that risk? Surely there must be a cut-off point when we either agree to pay the £50m or we say enough is enough and move to other targets?

If the Mail say Suarez is furious and is threatening legal action, it must be true. No chance.

I wonder if Liverpool season ticket holders could threaten legal action in a class action against this dislikeable young man for breach of contract?

Do Arsenal really want a player who is prepared to take court action.
    He has done this before!!

Absolutely shameful behaviour from the Gunners. You have been told repeatedly that he is not for sale and still your trying to force a deal. The most likely outcome is bad for both club. You will have wasted time and energy on a deal thats not gonna happen and most likely you will be without a world class striker come september, while Liverpool will have a pissed off star player on their hands. Wengers comments on “acting properly” were just ridiculous.

Me thinks – like Rogers – you doth protest too much.

If he’s not for sale, it doesn’t matter what Arsenal do or say. Liverpool won’t sell. Right! What’s the problem here?

How have Asrenal acted badly? They bid for the player and they rejected it, they bid again and got rejected…lol

      Yeah really bad of them…

Suarez just doesnt want to play for a top 10 team anymore, no harm in the player being ambitious.

No your comments are ridiculous, we made a bid that triggered a clause in Suarez’ s contract, Liverpool are ones making all the noise. In fact you have just unsettled your own player!

@Ricoo what is shameful about what arsenal has done? You’re way out of point. The player himself made it public that he wants out,and there was a part of his contract that allow him talk to any team in the champions league. So what is wrong with what arsenal has done? Its obvious that Suarez has his mind else where.Face it guy his leaving.

can’t believe you’ve said that considering your chequered history in tapping up and transfer dealings. have you forgotten one of your most recent shamefull acquisitions….brendan rodgers! do you remember how the pool tapped him up at swansea? where was rodgers loyalty to swansea when they gave him a job after watford sacked him? and look at the shamefull way liverpool took joe allen from swansea after liverpool and rodgers agreed not to take any of swanseas stars if swansea allowed brendan rodgers to go to liverpool! i could go on and on and on about the shamefull things liverpool have done in the past. there’s no comparing arsenal to liverpool when it comes to shamefulness….liverpool win hands down.

Why should arsenal fear court action. If there is a case to answer, Suarez is right to take such action. If not, he’ll lose! Simples

Because if he moves to Arsenal what happens when he wants to move to his next club but Arsenal don’t want to sell! Court action again?

I suppose it’s a reflection of the world we live in. I personally would love to see highly principled clubs unite and reach an agreement to let prima donnas who hold them to ransom rot in the stands/ reserve team for the remainder of their contracts . I’m a scouser but I’ve always had a lot of time for Arsenal.Do yourselves a favour and don’t go near the fella with a barge pole.

I’m starting to think you may be right. We should have done the same with RVP and Nasrti. See how sharp they are after a year and a half of goalkeeper training and sitting in the stands.

Suarez and company should just hand in the transfer request and stop wasting our time.simple then after that sue for contract row,his a cheat and things lfc will just row over.taste of his own medicine

What does it take to interpret a clause in a contract?? Is BR & Co really stupid over taking the hard stance (Suarez is not for sale)?? Three things are clear though. He wants out of LFC, Arsenal want him and he’s a LFC player (till the two clubs agree).
Great idea buying for less to save but Wenger came under intense pressure to buy Suarez when he lost out on Higuan with a view that Real wanted too much for him. Arsenal’s first bid came on 7th July
(a whole month now)and the one supposed to trigger the release clause on 23rd July (two weeks now) How sure are we he lodges a transfer request or we win when it goes to arbitration. The days continue to tick away. He thought it so easy to replace RVP sold to direct rivals and easily let Nazir, Song, Clithcy etc go. By the close of last season we were vying for a top four finish and with no trophy for over 7 years. Liverpool seem to have learned from our errors and we may not expect them to let Suarez go cheaply. If Wenger wins this by buying Suarez for Ps 40m, or meets LFC’s asking price of 55m, will be the eighth wonder of the world.

Brendan Rogers and Arsene Wenger are both Stupids! Wenger wants not Suarez but a response to arsenal fans whcih will will be ” i have tried up to taking a player to court, but not succeeded.” He is idiot!!

I think this is a real issue for wenger to learn from. Liverpool know exactly what they are doing. Selling a world-class player to their rivals for top-four finish is something they’ve taken account of. How can u always sell ur big name players to ur rivals?

well, i don’t want to severerly piss off the scousers on here, but if any of you were listening to radio 5live over the week end, you would have heard the ex liverpool director of football, damian comolli confirm, in his presence an agreement was made that, if liverpool failed to qualify for champions league football this season, then suarez could join any champions league side barring manchester united, for a fee of £35million. this is not just hear say, this is fact. comolli, david ayre, suarez and his representatives were all in agreement on this. so, it seems like ayre, rodgers and the club are lying to the liverpool fans and media alikie. it’s no wonder suarez and his representatives are so enraged they’re threatening to take legal action. if that’s the case, you can’t blame suarez as liverpool have broken their word….again. thyere again, we should be used to this situation as liverpool did the exact same thing with torres if i remember rightly!!!

It’s high time for wenger to learn, a good coach doesn’t sell top class player to rivals iverpool are right in thier stand. For good eight years no nothing to show you think we the arsenals fans are happy i wish all the best.
