FINALLY A Signing?! Winger Due For Medical After Arsenal Agree £21m Deal

By on July 22, 2013

Could this be the week we finally welcome a new big-name signing to the Emirates? Well, respected French outlet L’Equipe are reporting today that Brazilian winger Bernard is set to undergo a medical on Friday after we agreed a deal believed to be worth £21m with his club Atletico Mineiro.

There were reports on Saturday that claimed we had beaten off competition from Liverpool and Tottenham to snap up the highly-rated attacker after agreeing a £21m fee but as usual, these reports were taken with a pinch of salt.

However, L’Equipe – who were one of the first to report on the signings of Mertesacker, Cazorla and Giroud in the past – have now confirmed that a deal is in place and the 20-year-old will fly in for a medical on Friday after agreeing a five-year contract worth £3m per season after tax.

Bernard is expected to play his final game for Mineiro on Wednesday night in the final of the Copa Libertadore before flying over to England to complete his move.

The feeling is his arrival will signal the departure of Gervinho, who’s expected to seal a move to Roma this week, and Bernard certainly looks like he’ll be an upgrade on the Ivorian.

Now I’m not going to get too excited about this just yet as it’s still early days and none of the major British media outlets are reporting anything concrete, but he’d be an excellent addition if this is true.

Am so sick n tired of Arsene n Gazidis’ tactics in th transfare market why cant they sign players sooner thn later js like th other teams r doin. It hurts me to th bone seeing our so called targets being singed by other teams, show me n all Arsenal faithfuls tht u meant wht u said mr Gazidis by signing top quality players now thn playing th waitin game we dnt need left overs @ Arsenal nomore. I’ll only believe tht Benard isreally ours after th deal is confirmed coz ths season alone we have signed Gonzalo, Fellaini n Jovetic all in th newspapers.
